South AM - Unplayable Latency

(ThiagoJaqueta) #1

It’s been a while now, and the South AM servers still have REALLY BAD LATENCY, I don’t know what happened, because a few months ago, we had 10 to 50 ping max. Now, the South AM servers have a Ping bigger than US East, and even some US West servers as well!

I live in Curitiba (Brazil) for the record. The game is literally unplayable, it doesn’t matter which servers I play, I can’t use Fletcher, Nader/Any Projectile based character, and I even can’t TrickJump properly because of the lag.

Please, do something about this.

I’ve spent money on the game, and this is what happens. Ridiculous.
If you guys aren’t putting South AM servers ON SOUTH AMERICA, THEN, DON’T NAME IT AS SOUTH AM for frogs sake.

Don’t you guys have that tool that keep track on the Players ping on the server? Can’t you see that most of the players on SA with less than 100 ping are not actually in SA? And that the real SA players have a COLOSSAL PING?

My patience is running out, if the game is not in playable conditions, I’ll just uninstall and get back to Enemy Territory. There’s no players, but we have servers with <50 Ping. (y)

EDIT: How South AM servers used to be:

(ImSploosh) #4

It started sometime back in January of February. As a U.S. East player, I noticed SA servers were giving me better ping than U.S. East servers. I quickly made a thread to ask for an explanation as it was quite obvious that the SA servers were moved to somewhere in Florida.

Turns out, they’re in Miami now. Other people on the forum have mentioned this is all due to Nexon and doesn’t have anything to do with Splash Damage. I just know it sucks for SA players because most of them will not have better pings in U.S. East or West servers (only exceptions would be Central Americans, some countries may have better ping in U.S. servers.

We can only hope that eventually real South American servers are put back into place. Currently, there’s a lot of problems with mixing different regions. The major ping differences are an obvious one (unplayable for some and even affects gun fights against U.S. players because in some circumstances, the incredibly high ping gives an advantage). However, there’s also the language barrier which can cause a team to lose a game. Even with a lot of SA players knowing a decent amount of English, I’ve been in quite a few games where the communication issue causes the loss. :frowning:

So… Nexon is saving money on servers, at the cost of prejudicing and loosing their player-base?
@RazielWarmonic please, as Nexon Community Manager, could you contact the people responsible for the servers about that? I love DB, but I just can’t play it properly at it’s current state.

My ping is bad too but this is not the right time to rant about that. This game is free to play beta that have less then 2000 players playing it. The game doesn’t get money in return for the development so they get cheaper servers so they don’t need to spend more money about that.
Yes, I know it sucks but until more people will join the game and pay for elite cases or credit boosters, the servers will be bad.

Not a double post, the comment above was removed

First: The servers were great, if they where shutting down the South AM servers, they should just shut them down for good, and not pretend that they existed by putting them in fuckin miami. Or, better yet, let players host their own dedicated servers, I wouldn’t mind split 50 reais a month with some of my friends in order to get some decent ping.

Second: They are not getting money in return, because they’re failing to keep the game alive, bad features in updates, messing with servers, not dealing with cheaters. Not enough advertisement, no wonder nobody wants to spend money on a game that is getting more broken every update.

asking @RazielWarmonic for explanation? psshhh. I did a similar post days before and she gave me the most dissapointing and ridiculous answer possible. Just gave a link to a vague and ridiculous post that gave no detail or motive to why they changed servers or their future plans for it. then just closed the discussion and basically said “deal with it” I’d say its useless to ask any of the people here what the future plans are. Maybe we should crash our cars into their buildings.

I asked her for this on twitter, and she gave me the link for that same bs.

Honestly, I would be less offended if she just had said: “Fuck you, we don’t care about South American Players, play on US East with 150 ping.” :expressionless:

Fun Fact, I download Ghost in a Shell (Another game published by Nexon)
And guess what, their US East servers also have smaller ping than the “South AM” servers.

GG Nexon.

Here in Argentina I get 160 ping at best on SA servers… and players keep moaning that I do great thanks to my unwanted ridiculous ping…
