Source Filmmaker Models?

(PTownHero) #1

@MissMurder I just started getting into SFM trying to learn the ups and downs, and what better to learn on then w/ something you love. AKA Dirty Bomb xD. Anywho, I go into the workshop to find some models to work with and it’s a wasteland. Check SFMlabs for models and such and again, wasteland. Didn’t know where else to turn to then the creators themselves. So, would it be possible for you guys to upload Dirty Bomb models and voice lines into Source Filmmaker? Just think of the possibilities and publicity it can bring into the game. I know I’m not the only person who’s been looking into this. With all these diverse characters and personalities, think of the skits and such to be made. Look at the creations made by a similar game, TF2.

Don’t you need the models to be compatible with the Source engine to work in the SFM?

No idea. That’s why I’m asking if they can make the models :stuck_out_tongue:

I believe the models that are allowed in the Gmod workshop are available to the SFM? I’m not entirely sure though.

GMod is based on the Source engine as well, so yeah if it works for one it should work for the other. But DB is not Source-based…

They could still create models (not the exact graphical looks of the DB models of course because source looks like crap lol) but they could create basic models imported (though of course there might be slight texture glitches which would be needed to be fixed.) through the source engine/workshop/etc

People are able to port models from other games than source, i have noticed that people have made Warframe models, Metal Gear Solid models (and MGS4 has not been in PC ever and there are still models from that game) and many many other models from games that dont use source engine avaivable to Gmod and Source Filmmaker.

Some people even use time to polish those imported models to make them work better.

However, just like comment above mine mentioned, the models dont look exactly same, since differend game engines use differend kind of lighting and shadowing, the said mgs4 models on gmod dont look as good as they did in the original game.
