Sound Distortion/Lag

(efficientLugnut) #1

There has been some issues with the sound in-game for me. The main menu sounds sound fine, but once I load in game I get massive sound distortion/sound lag. I’ve tried re-downloading the game and updating my drivers. Has anyone else been experiencing this problem?

Do you notice any FPS drops when the audio has issues? Could you please provide your PC specs?

(redBase) #3

Yeah, I have the same problem and I also experience massive FPS drops. Tried everything, updating my drivers, defragging, nothing worked.
I have a Radeon R9 280X, AMD Phenom II X6 and 8 GB Ram

And Windows 7

Same problem here. Massive fps drop and sound distortion. Absolutly unplayable.

GF660 gtx
FX 8350
8Go
Win 7 64

Both of you, have you tried dropping your configs down some notches? Also, @carmineKnife I have a 660 ti and I don’t experience the same issues. This leads me to believe that it is definitely a client side issue.

You could also try verifying your game cache, but I feel like that isn’t the issue.

Please try installing the Beta drivers for your cards if available and see if those help. You can generally get beta drivers from the manufacturers website.

Yes, I tried like 3 or 4 different kinds of configs, they all helped a litte bit with the low FPS but unfortunately not with the sound issue. Also, when I mute the game the FPS gets better.

I’ll try the Beta driver, thanks.

Update: So, i got the beta driver, nothing changed…

I too am having this issue.

ASUS x99-A
Intel i7-5820k
Gigabyte G1 GTX 970
240Gb 840 Evo
1Tb WD Blue (game location here)

Game will run fine for 10-15 min then the sound starts to distort like crazy. It almost sounds as if there are too many layers of sound just stacking on top of one another. The more explosion you hear the worse it gets all while dropping your frames to the ground.

Even with my machine I was originally playing at medium settings because I wanted 60+ frames but it just keeps getting worse.

Looking for a stable fix. Thanks in advanced.

So I was monitoring my Hardware while playing and it looks like the GPU is, in comparison to the CPU, barely used. The CPU fluctuates between 60% and 90%, the GPU ussage is almost all the time below 25%. Maybe that could be one reason for these problems?
Anyone else experiencing that?

Higher CPU than GPU usage is common with UE4. I’m thinking it’s either a DX issue, something is screwy with the attenuation, or the sound reflection is funky because of the high quality sounds of explosions.

Let it be known however, I only mess around with UE4 and am not a pro at this.

DB is UE3

I had sound lag, fps drops and freezes. To solve this, I disabled all audio drivers but no the headphones:

and now the game works fine, I think it’s a Realtek problem, as in Battlefield 3.

I am having audio distortion to usually when too much loud sounds are trying to play at once it distorts but the game itself runs smooth on low so I dont know. if anyone knows how to stop the audio distortion please let me know.
