Something needs to be done about these PC players, they are scaring away Xbox players

(INF3RN0) #21

Some gave up. Some bash. Some want to help the game to get better. Some are waiting for patches. 1% are satisfied as is. What is nonsensical drivel again? Oh yea… all those ‘good’ threads where you can post your list of achievements and chat about your ideas for new designer hats DLC.

(wolfnemesis75) #22

Brink now passed 1 million copies sold across 3 formats if you consider steam sales. This game looks like it could sell 2 million units across 3 platforms. Which is what I pegged before I bought the game. 2mil is not bad for a new IP. Don’t listen to the haters. Of course…650,00 units sold on Xbox.

http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/34910/brink/

This game is far from dead. Don’t believe the haters.

^ Nonsensical drivel.

1% of current Brink players are happy? You pulled that number out of your butt. I call that nonsense.

You, and all the people like you, rely on made up statistics, rhetorical questions, vague inquiries, even more vague statements of “we were lied to”, lots of “this game isn’t like other games I enjoy, so it is bad”, some “we payed money, so we are entitled”, and tons and tons AND TONS of ad homenim personal attacks.

Not to mention a total lack of any evidence.

If you don’t like it that is totally fine. Voice your opinion and move on. Don’t come in here with your resentful sour, disposition and lack of proper spelling and grammar and find us wrong for enjoying something you do not.

Your character has been tested, and you have been found wanting. I find this as a common trait among all of “you”.

Oh, and obviously this:

Brink now passed 1 million copies sold across 3 formats if you consider steam sales. This game looks like it could sell 2 million units across 3 platforms. Which is what I pegged before I bought the game. 2mil is not bad for a new IP. Don’t listen to the haters. Of course…650,00 units sold on Xbox.

http://store.steampowered.com/stats/

This is not made up… take the sales figures that were posted and figure out how many people are satisfied since the PC peak was 942 ppl playing and only 300 are on right now in the WORLD playing counting both single player, multiplayer, and people with Brink open afk.

(Farlong) #25

With every game, every review and all forums, there is one important rule: Learn to make up your own opinions. Also, when reading overly negative / positive view on something, you have got to read between the lines. See what are genuine points and what is just rubbish.

Many people are too quick to only focus on one side of a game and just label it good or bad without giving any arguements for their opinions.

Still, it is up to you to filter out the BS.

And generalizing the entire PC community as Brink-bashers is not cool, dude.

I think Brink tries to be different than previous games or other games on the market, including older games like ET. It tries to create its own mythos and archetypes centered around some fresh takes on FPS games.

Brink has just as much depth. It is just there is a slow adoption. Give it more of a chance, invest as much time as you did in those other games, and keep an open mind. Don’t let your past experiences keep you from embracing something new and different.

You’re certainly earning your corn on these forums, aren’t you?

(INF3RN0) #27

OMG YOUR TOTALLY RIGHT!! I mean obviously everyone who bought the game is still playing, which would explain a lot. Oh wait… fail much.

Cute. But the only thing this does is reiterate stuff we’ve already heard here.

Now post proof that only 1% of Brinks current players are satisfied.

Oh, wait. You can’t because you made it up :penguin:

EDIT: Oh, and you also continue to ignore everything that anyone says. Except to post steam statistics. Which account for a tiny portion of the games market, and prove nothing except the steam community for Brink is small.
We seriously need to make some sub forums badly! If I was a Xbox owner considering buying Brink and I came to this forum I would assume this game sucked and that no one played it ever, you guys thoughts? I am seriously tired of reading all this Splash Damage bashing from the PC community, I am not saying they don’t have a good reason to be sad, but us console players for the most part are happy and we need a place where we (including the small minority of console players that also hate the game, there is a place for them, balance) can discuss the game without confusing new comers to the game that play on the console.

Also I still don’t get the anger from the two week free DLC, if we all get it before the two weeks, its free. If someone else wants to get the game and DLC brand new, its still quite cheap, is everyone here poor?
I’m an XBOX player and I’m not completely satisfied with the game. No party lobby is terrible. The shooting is subpar. I want the game to better but about 80% of the people on my friends list have stopped playing Brink. You mention that people pull stats out of their ass but you are doing the same thing. Most XBOX players are happy? You are out of your mind. Ask ANY gamestop manager like I have and see what the answer is on the return rate of Brink. Ask me. I work for a major retailer that sells games as a part of the business. Even amongst employees in the store Brink has a terrible perception.

Posts like yours irritate me because you are basically asking everyone to just accept the game. YOU accept it. YOU accept there not being party lobbies. YOU accept terrible spread when shooting a gun in an SD game which is supposed to have better gunplay. YOU accept not being able to play a competitive match for like 20 minutes before the matchmaking finds enough players and players that are competent enough to ready up.

I however will not accept it and I don’t expect anyone else to either. Just because your expectations are horrendously low doesn’t mean that mine should be also. You wouldn’t have to worry about negativity in this forum if the game was better. It is reality. So Brink sold 1 million copies huh? That is supposed to make me feel better? I wonder what percentage of those were returned? I bet that it’s an extremely high number.

On joystiq they recently posted about the Free DLC. About 90% of the comments were absolutely negative and reflected the feelings of the majority of this forum. You can put your head in the sand if you want and look forward to a bright future 3 months from now playing by yourself with bots. The rest of us will continue to push SD to hopefully make the game better. I’m sure that they appreciate it. You my friend are in the minority if you haven’t noticed.

Does xbox have statistics? I would like to see how many of those millions are on there… Because 1% is not an actual number, it’s called sarcasm. With all the sales and the number of people that are still playing as well as the steady rate in decrease, I wouldn’t doubt that it is far away from the facts. I understand denial is a tough predicament.

The unfortunate reality is that some gamers like the OP care about units sold as a defense to a bad game that nobody plays. Its even lower than Duke Nukem EEEEWWWWWWW!

What is even worse is that SD probably thinks the same thing!! LMAO! This is soooo depressing. I don’t think I will EVER play a game like RTCW again. Unless I win the lottery and put up the money myself lol.

Yep, and you can continue talking like an entitled crybaby. Do you have any idea how your diction in your posts makes you sound?

I like the game, and I’m not burying my head in the sand. I never said it was perfect, and I’m well aware of its flaws. I’m defending it because it doesn’t deserve the relentless beatings that you people are giving it.

The thread wasn’t about Brinks flaws, it was about the need for subforums. But you don’t really care about that do you? You just look for any thread where you can jump in feet first and spread Brink hate right?

GTFO. Just because you see people that share your opinion doesn 't mean you are the majority.

When a decent complaint thread is started I will contribute my complaints. Until then I’m going to continue making posts like this, and I wont dignify any post similar to yours with any sort of constructive criticism.

Note: decent complaint thread meaning good spelling and grammar, and not an “F brink this, and F Brink that. This game sucks” thread.

(Shoryuken88) #36

The only thing that a high number of units sold indicates is that a high number of people got screwed out of their money by Splash Damage and Bethesda.

You expect everyone who got ripped off to praise the junk they wasted their money on?

Ok so let me address your point about keeping this on topic. So the OP wants to have subforums huh? For what? For the 10 360 players on it? The community is already tiny and now we want it split because we can’t handle the truth? Grow up. Start expecting more from the things that you buy. I will never understand people who just accept supbar things in their life. Just because I’m highly critical of Brink doesn’t mean I hate it. I think it has potential if only SD would remember what made their games popular in the first place and I have news for you…it isn’t just objective and class based gameplay. Seems they forgot though.

One more thing…seems like you need to get real about where the game stands today. It’s not just people on these forums. It’s people on any gaming website when Brink is the topic. It’s 90% of my friends list who laugh at the game. It’s the embarrassing size of the community this shortly after release. Yes you have your head in the sand about where this game stands right now. You are in denial. What is it gonna take? For you to be the only one playing with the 4 other Brink 360 defenders on this forum for you to realize this game is not what it needs to be? You 4 against bots in 3 months. That’s my prediction. Is that what you want?

Stops. Re-reads the title of the thread. Thinks about possible reactions. Reads posts “NAW UH PPL LIKE BRINK IN YO FACE!”. Looks at recently posted statistics. Try’s to understand your logic. Facepalms.

(funsize) #40

To the OP: are you really worried about PC players scaring would-be XBOX gamers off? How about looking at all of the spam threads created by noupperlobeman (xbox360 player) in the past 10 minutes in the main forum. This petulant baby had his feelings hurt so now he has proceeded to spam the main forum with porn links. Yeah, the PC gamers who post statistics about Brink’s shrinking playerbase are the problem.
