Some suggestions for the beta

(NotaCobra) #1

G’day, new to the forums but figured I’d set up my own suggestion thread. I will update this thread as thoughts come to mind.

As a general rule, all suggestions are ranked in order of… palatability.

The most obvious suggestions at the top, the more controversial ones down the bottom.

14/06/2015:

  1. Regarding the server browser, the page defaults to the total server list, forces that entire list to load and only then after up to a minute of staring at a screen are you able to click “Favourites”
if possible, either default the server browser to favourites, or leave the window at whichever tab it was last open on, or failing both of those, at least allow us to switch tabs while the main browser is gradually updating.
Or, if all of that is impossible, at least let us stop the refresh so i can click on a server instead of having it jump around constantly as new servers get added to the list.

  2. Fix the bug that prevents objectives being picked up/returned.
Occasionally, the targetable area on an objective will move. Say it’s the EMP charge in the chapel level, sometimes instead of being centred on the charge, it will be half a metre in the air above it, or to the side. When this happens, and the “Hit box” ends up in a wall, it makes it impossible to reset or pick up.

  3. Fix Fragger’s Grenades.
Too often, grenades either disappear when you’re trying to cook them, disappear in mid air or just find other ways to consume a cool-down without producing a kaboom.
I know that a lot of people consider fragger to be too strong right now, but fix him mechanically then nerf away.

  4. Include a “All mercs, past and future” pack.
I’ve seen a few games offer this, and it’s a very strong selling point.
Basically, you pay a lump sum, say around $50-$60, you get instant access to all mercs, forever. Even newly released ones.
Now that may be HUGE value, but that’s usually the point. $50-60 is about the average you’d get out of most players, I believe that’s what league of legends claims they average, including all free players.
Even if it’s only available during the open beta, it would still be a nice idea.
I’ve had a couple of friends leave the game because they don’t like the idea of playing for hundreds of hours to get a single merc for free, and would rather just pay “The price of the whole game” rather than fork out $10 every time they want to try a different playstyle.

  5. Remove headshots on shotguns, particularly at range.
This suggestion may get shot down in flames, but shotguns already do enough damage to one or two shot most classes in the game at close-mid range. Headshots just mean if you fluke one you get to kill somebody that much faster, It’s rarely a matter of skill, usually simply a lucky shot, and it’s not fun to play against.
I’d say it’s a major contributing factor in the number of “7 aura teams” I’ve been seeing a lot lately.

  6. Adjust the lag compensation.
I’m not sure how much this happens to players in other countries, but in Australia, it is not a rare sight to see the top scoring player resting at more than 350 ping.
Sure, they take the better part of a second to realise they’ve been shot, but they don’t take damage for that full second, then they shoot and kill you after you’ve ducked behind a wall, with the death-cam often showing shots through walls, or even when they’re not, a killshot being made nearly 10 metres away from where your body actually dropped.
I know it’s hard to compensate for lag well, without either shafting anyone with more than 30 ping, or turning those with high ping into gods, but we’re way too far into the latter at the moment and it’s fairly frustrating.

(NotaCobra) #2

update, as before, I’ll try and keep less controversial topics at the top of the post.

15/06/2015:

  1. It would be nice if, once we’d seen the notification, it went away.
So, for example, if I complete a mission, get the little (1) next to my in game profile, having looked at it and seen that I completed a mission, it goes away.
Particularly bothersome is when it’s alerting me that I have a new case… which I’ve already opened.

  2. Allow an option to multi-purchase loadout cases.

  3. Allow an option to turn off the “Inspect” feature after acquiring a new loadout.
Whether crafted or fresh out of a case, It’s a real pain in the neck to always get the card’s details load, pop up and then have to fumble for the button to close it and move on. It’d be nice if you could just trade in as many loadouts as you wanted to, collect all the upgrades, then peruse them at your leisure.

  4. Mark automatic map ammo locations on the minimap.
For new players, even knowing these ammo resupplies exist is a new experience, finding them shouldn’t really be something that you have to learn, they’re a part of the map and really they should be visible on the minimap, just like walls and objectives.
