Some Problems

(broloi) #1

Hi everyone.

My friend is having some problems.

  1. He’s using 1.5, but it got problems with compiling. It simply doesn’t compile. It give the following error:
******************Error******************
Error opening [Path]: Too many open files.
  1. So he went back to 1.4, but this is not better.

When creating a brush it show in the 2d window, but not in the 3d window. Its nearly invisible, but some white dots in each corner of the brush.

We can select the brush, but this doesnt help. It just show white lines around the brush, witch is still invisible…

We have tried with different textures.

1.5 works, 1.4 does too. What they have in common is Q3Map2, this well-crafted program compiles map files into BSP files. So it is Q3Map2 coughing up the error, NOT GTKRadiant.

To fix the error, use a clean map environment. This means that you should have a second installation of W:ET with no custom maps whatsoever. There are just too many pk3 files in his current install.

1.4 is better if you can fix the problem… bushes not showing? only white dots? thats strange but i think iv heard it before.

I had this same problem when I installed new q3map2 2.5.16 for GTK Radiant 1.5 ( bad installed). So i uninnstalled Radiant and again install all include Q3map2

Thanks for the help.

1.5 is working now, but we still got the problems with 1.4, so he’s just using 1.5.

(murka) #6

hmm, i had a problem with the q3map2 that came with 1.5, it just didnt compile one face, dunno why but it did with the old q3map2 that came with 1.4.

(broloi) #7

Your talking about the q3map2 all the time… but I’m sure it has nothing to do with that… ITS IN RADIANT, BEFORE WE COMPILE OR ANYTHING… and the brushes are just invisible.

(kamikazee) #8

Tried to press ‘J’ a couple of times? It is the default key for toggling the selected brush appearance in 1.4.

(broloi) #9

yeps… it did nothing when not selected.

But when selected it change between white lines, white dots and red dots.

(kamikazee) #10

Hmmm… If all brushes are invisible, also take a look in the “Filter” menu. If “Show world” is not selected, all non-entity brushes will be invisible, including selected ones. (Although those appear red.)

(broloi) #11

Nope, that was not the thing…

Could be the ATI video card bug?

(broloi) #13

I don’t think he’s running an ATI video card… -.-

(RayBan) #14

i have seen this error before, i believe it has to do with the brushwork,
did you try a brush cleanup?

and are the brushes properly snapped to the grid?

(murka) #15

try reinstalling radiant…

(broloi) #16

well, I’ll try help him with it…

@ RayBan - Brush cleanup might be a thing, gonna try it… and I’m pretty sure the brushes are snapped to the grid

@Murka - we reinstalled several times, with the same result.
