Some Phantom changes I don't think anyone will object to

  1. Change the Refractive Armor to make you even less visible when walking, completely invisible when stationary. While Sprinting still makes you very visible.
  2. Buff Phantom’s HP back to 120
  3. Change the amount of damage the Refractive Armor can tank, without undercover it should be 60, with, 75 ish.
  4. Change the Katana’s running speed to be 2.25 instead of 2.5. So he gets a small speed buff when using the Katana.
  5. Increase the Katana’s range just a teeny bit.
  6. Give Phantom a new ability, Decoy, which works like an Anti Heart Beat Sensor, when thrown, it’ll produce fake spotted icons to lure in enemies, or misdirect them when your team makes a push. This can be REALLY smart if you use it to make it seem like your team is pushing one way when you’re going a completely opposite path, Dome is great example. And since the Refractive Armor’s visibility is based on movement, being able to bait people to your position for a clean kill is amazingly helpful. The cooldown should be 30 seconds, duration should be 5-10.

These seem pretty nice, but I’m more concerned with the turn speed limit. that is probably the biggest reason for his lack of utility at the moment, coupled with all the other nerfs he got.

And no, I object quite heavily to these changes, you just made him even more annoying. More range? More speed? More tank? No thanks.

I agree with everything but the Decoy skill. I’ve never really found decoys useful or effective in FPS and I fail to see how it would be any different in Dirty Bomb. If I saw a stationary player I’d shoot them from a distance, no need to risk getting my Beckhill ( :cry: ) all dirty. I’d much rather SD fully reconsider giving Phantom a spotting ability.

I don’t agree with giving people more speed with the Katana, buffing it’s range, taking HP from his ability and giving it to him or making him more invisible without changes like him not being able to attack out of cloak. That is simply encouraging bad rushdown melee gameplay and the type of gameplay that causes a rift in the playerbase if it’s too good/easy.

I like the decoy idea but I’d also be happy with just about anything as a secondary ability.

  2. Well, I don’t know. Maybe. But what about the…
  3. Yeah, what about that? If you buff Phantom’s health, buffing the armor doesn’t sound wise. He could use a 40 health on it to make him have as much defense as Fragger when on full health.

One issue with Decoy ability though, how about enemy team not having a single recon class? In pubs, there a) usually always is b) even if not there are tons of people not paying attention to that so anyway. But, in matchmaking and tournaments this skill would make Phantom only a hard counter attempt against enemy recon. Calling out the decoyed spots gives it away too. Although I like how it could be used as “overload” of info, dropping it to aread where your team has already been spotted. Just bringing it up, not necessary saying it’s bad suggestion.

As for others, like the title says. Wouldn’t object to. But still doesn’t fix the core cringe at least I have with him, the instant cloak exit.

Warframe’s decoy works by firing at enemies without dealing damage. Maybe Phantom’s decoy could fire fake bullets that slightly shake the nearest opponent’s view without dealing any damage. Y’know, being pretty much a distraction that works with and without recons.

If Phantom’s proposed decoy had an AI and went around harassing enemies I’d like it. Perhaps make it even Dead-Ringer-esque in cloaking Phantom and sending a decoy running away as if it were the Phantom itself.

Why not buff Phantom’s health to 120, but give him the speed of a 100 health merc but still keep the Refractive Armor’s damage absorption?

His health wasn’t really that much of an issue on release, what was were how the katana stab and how the Refractive Armor worked.

The Katana and all melee weapons for that matter had their stab changed, chopper too and so was the Katana’s range

While not as visible as before the main gripes with people was that it tanked too much damage and recharged to quickly for such a damage absorption.
Now that it the main problem, the amount of damage the armor could take was decreased and made that overkill damage to the armor would bleed into Phantom’s health why not bring back its second spent = second waiting?

I still like the Comm’s Hack spotting ability from Brink idea I keep mentioning.

Finally, why not bring back that when detected Phantom becomes visible?

phantoms fine as is the only change i would like to see is he gets access to semi auto pistols, like the M9 instead of heavy pistols

My main problem with Phantom at release, was that he was too tanky, and he did a lot of damage directly out of said tank state.

Too often I would see a Phantom, and start firing, and he would simply cloak and keep running at me. Cloak my ass, that’s more of a temporary damage absorber.

As a result, if I played anyone under 110 HP, I would get OHKO in situations where I shouldn’t have been able to. I knew the Phantom was there, and I was continuously shooting at him for a second, yet he was so tanky he just kept running.

It’s simple to change. Make him actually stealthy, remove the noise, and the visibility. Remove his ability to attack straight out of cloak. Now he has to cloak and decloak strategically, yet he hasn’t lost his super strong sword that everyone is in love with. Also if he gets hit while cloaked, he will have a distortion effect similar to his effect right now. Also no deployables will activate while cloaked, so it’s a true cloak.

Personally I have no idea why his health should’ve have really been nerfed, it’s really just his shield. Also the katana speed nerf…like really? It also nerfed other melees like cricket bat and now I need to keep in mind to whip out my pistol to run faster than press 3 and that bugs me.
The range buff for katana doesn’t really sound necessary but I think all melee weapons should have better hitbox detections, especially the heavy attacks with right button on the mouse.
The second ability sounds cool, anything would be useful.

These are good changes. Invisibility is a must, however even now people can’t notice me if I crouch carefully lol. I don’t agree with buffing health AND armor. Plus the katana buffs and you got a melee class. Not good.

Katana doesn’t really need buffs, if you get the timing down you can still land those lunges. In the right places of course. Even your cat could use the slash easily.

I would be fine with just the first and second point, I don’t mind the rest either, could work, BUT, please remove the noise… there’s already so much counterplay…
