Some of the best games of Brink I've had thx to VOIP

Playing on DDD Armageddon / NYC server which has PUBLIC voip on. Meaning you can talk to your team without fireteams.

Most people don’t even try the VOIP because they are used to it not working. I like joining this server and chatting up, getting strategy going. Sure enough you will hear “hey can you hear me?” “is my mic on?” as people realize Brink actually has VOIP. Later that game we had like 5-6 guys on VOIP coordinating, we decimated maps and used teamwork the way it is meant to be.

Server operators, PLEASE ensure you enable global VOIP. It is off by default and some servers still don’t have it on. This is the way things should have been at release folks. It is a damn shame that working VOIP took so long to get here. As soon as we had regular VOIP going in my last game, scores of people began talking about Brink… “I love this game, I don’t understand the haters…” “It’s a great game…” VOIP transforms Brink.

Splash Damage please remember this for your next game. I can understand your VOIP policy on the console, to some extent. But it made zero sense on PC and seriously damaged your community.

Much more fun with VOIP on or in Party Chat or Fireteam. I do understand the reason behind the VOIP policy on console. There are just horrible people out there. Glad SD tried to take a stand against it.

I had tons of fun playing on that server yesterday. VOIP makes a huge difference. Good times.

Can’t tell you how many times I heard: “Doc, I’m right behind you! Revive me! Thanks bro!”

It gets even funnier when you are in party chat and you have four guys on one side and four on the other. Then you have someone like Solarcrest saying, “Hey Wolf, I am right behind you.” Then bang, bang, I’m dead! Arrrghh!

VOIP is essential in this type of game. I can’t fathom why they thought it’d be a good idea to drop it as a core feature.

People play online together to interact. Take away VOIP and you’ve butchered a significant feature that enables players to do that.

Yeah, killing VOIP with defaults in this game was a terrible move, on PC. It makes everything seem so stale and repetitive, and really limits the evolution of strategies on pubs. Please make whatever setting they had on DDD/nyc default, because it was a blast. (btw it seems to come and go- what’s up with that?)

I think it’s just who has a mic I was playing today and asking if anyone was on VOIP and got a chat message saying, “I don’t have a mic”. No one else on my team responded though and it was a full server. Also, I agree that the default should be to have VOIP active.
