Some noobish questions :)

Hey.

Im new here and have been playing Enemy Territory for about a year now and I’ve suddenly become interesting in map editing.
I started on a map last night and I would say the progress is going pretty good.
Ive learnt how to make ladders, glass and team doors but I have a few questions.

  1. How do i get into a scripting mode to… well… erm… script objects? Ive searched the forum and cant find anything.

  2. I have a sea for my map but whenever I go in it in game mode I just walk on land underwater. How do I raise gravity or whatever to swim in it?

  3. I add objects from the Mapobjcts folder but they only show up on the map editor as seethrough white square boxes. How do i fix this?

  4. What is the easiest way to make a staircase other than doing it brush by brush?

  5. How do I make a brush go diagonal to make a slope?

Thanks :moo:

  1. scripting > http://www.planetwolfenstein.com/4newbies/Map_Scripting_4_Newbies.pdf
    (needs .pdf reader)

  2. water properties come from textures/common/nodraw_water.
Example in a map > www.spyjuice.com/ld.htm and get the “after_beginner_tutorial.pk3” tutorial.

  3. fixing the path bug >>>
    http://www.splashdamage.com/index.php?name=pnPHPbb2&file=viewtopic&t=4301 (relatively perm. fix)
    fixing the path manually >>>
    http://www.wolfensteinx.com/surface/tutorials/inputting_models.html

  4. round > http://www.splashdamage.com/index.php?name=pnPHPbb2&file=viewtopic&t=12358&highlight=staircase
square > yes, brush by brush

  5. vertex editing, shear drag or clipping tool.
Example map > www.spyjuice.com and get the brush_manipulation.pk3 tutorial

  6. You’re Welcome

  7. Once you grasp the terms used in ET mapping…the ‘search’ button will bring you direct satisfaction.

  1. Go to C:\Program Files\GtkRadiant-1.4\games and open et.game with notepad And simply change all the Back slashes ( \ ) to Forward Slashes ( / ). It works for me, I don’t know why that Thread makes it so complicated.
