Hi all
i tried brink today and i like it! but i have lots of questions,…
does the amount of weapons i carry effect my speed? I seem to be slower than everyone else AND i have a worse gun… how do i unlock the better guns ?

whats the best gun to use if you wanna be a light run and gunner type person?

is there any tweaks or noobs guides anywhere?

what are your tips you wish you knew on your first day ?

thanks for any replies

Get enough Exp to unlock the Light Body Type. (Level 7) Choose a class like Medic or Engineer at first. This will give you room to grow and learn. You may be slower because you are a Medium and they are Light Body type? Very likely. Best gun for you to try is Carb-9, Kross Smg, or Bulpdaun. Do some challenges and unlock weapon attachments right now while you are a low level. You want Drum Mags or High Cap mags plus muzzle break something like the adjusted iron sights or Red Dot and either front grip or Bayonet. As a secondary weapon, try either the Seagull or Belgo Machine Pistol. Practice a bit of Parkour in the Parkour This challenge. Stay close to teammates and try to buff them every chance. Buff team mates then yourself in that order.

Start playing the 1 and 2 star challenges to unlock weapons and attachments.

With level 7 you want to change to a light body. They can wall jump!

You chose the carb-9 with these attachments:
Muzzle break, any. i like the downvent most.
Front grip (better spread) or bayonet (massive slide and melee damage)
Ironsight, you will only hip fire anyway!
Drummag

As secondary:
Belgo (MP) or ritchie (revolver, your longrange weapon!) as you like.

You hipfire while running in close distance, light is perfect for flanking and short range. You can midrange snipe with the ritchie revolver if you want.

Most important abilities (all in universal):
Grenade shooting- this is a must
sprinting grenade
sprinting reload
extra supplies

  1. I don’t think so. Sounds weird. Are you using the smart button to sprint? Did you change your body type in the character screen to heavy or something?

  2. As for guns, they all have their pros and cons so go for one you like the feel of most. The carb 9 is a pretty good starter gun :o

  3. No guides off the top of my head but they’re out there

  4. Starter tips:

Set a good SMART key. This might not be a problem for you but I find the default key awkward to pull off standing slides in 1v1s (when you need to knock people off their feet)

Put points in general abilities to start with. At least the first 4 or 5 points I find should be spent on essential general abilities. ‘Sense of perspective’ is arguably a hindrance, it depends on the situation… You should probably buy nearly all the general abilities, the sooner the better.

Wait for your team mates if you’re out of sync with the spawn wave. Going in alone will only offset you even more. Let them catch up and go in together

Do the challenges for weapon attachment unlocks etc. Set a front grip for your main weapon, speed sling for your secondry. Challenges are also easy XP to earn your first few general abilities.

Last but not least, learning the objectives, which you can’t really do without practice; but once you start to know where to go things will be a lot more fun than following the objective wheel.

These are just my take on things. There are plenty more I’ll post if any come to mind. G’luck!

Somewhat related to this topic. I know that the main factor in your movement speed in Brink is body type, but is there any affect on movement speed when you have say, the Gotlung Minigun equipped as opposed to a pistol?

It could just be that the larger guns swing back and forth slower when you sprint compared to the smaller ones and it makes it appear that you are sprinting at slightly different speeds. It may also be force of habit on my part from earlier SD titles where it made a big difference if you had a heavy weapon equipped.

Any insight welcome, I’d hate to be switching weapons unnecessarily.

Senty you can respec your char by selling the abilities. Costs you 1lvl though but better then starting from scratch.

Weapon carrying makes no difference at all.
