Some ideas to make the game more interesting and rewarding

(Lord.Eblis) #1

Hi all,

I had some ideas about the game like incentive for leveling up and such things and would like to present them to you.
Of course you can criticize cause they could be good or complete trash

  • When you level up, the percentages of crates change : for exemple (and don’t take those numbers for a fact) every 10 levels you get +0.5% more chance of having a bronze card, +0.1% chance gold, -0.5% of having lead loadout… of course a balance must be found. Imagine : at level 50 you already get +2.5% of having a nice card. That would be a nice motivation to play (and to keep those crates for later).

  • For those who buy (or have already bought…yes I include myself  ) bundles or mercs with real money : every bundle or 3 mercs you have +1 slots in your squad so you can have a nice gameplay diversity. Maybe a max of 5 slots so you have almost all the classes : sniper, doc, engineer, support, and those killers like Fragger, Nader… Cause let’s be honest, how many times, when you’re ingame and when it’s too late, did you wish you had another merc to solve a situation.

  • Every 10 levels you can choose one bronze loadout from the store so you can try it for 1500 credits for 1 or two hours so you know if it’s the one you need, it could be an offer that last for 1 week or for the whole level 10 for exemple, so you can choose wisely.

  • Every 10 levels you have 1 free slot for your squad, so you can play with four mercs. Offer is valid for 1 or 2 hours. You activate it when you want. You can even activate it alongside the loadout trial. Maybe players would be more prone to buy those mercs bundles + crates + 1 more squad slot (limit of 5 slots).

  • Every 15 levels, you get to choose a free bronze loadout from the store. This is of course limited to one loadout for each character, if for exemple you choose a loadout for Stoker, the next free loadout cannot be for stocker : at a point, if you do not have all the mercs, you will have to buy them so you can use those bronze loadouts.

Discussion is open, suggestions are welcome

Great ideas, don’t like the more squad slots though. Means one person can carry on every type objective / game which takes away from the teamwork aspect of the game.

I like the reward based system for leveling up cause currently, there really isn’t a reason to. I don’t like the idea of adding more merc slots however, as even though I’ve found myself in that situation time and time again, I’d rather be forced to be creative with what I have, than to have a teammate who can carry everything cause he just switches to adapt to EVERY situation without having to rely on teammates.

(everlovestruck) #4

@DarkMatterMatt being able to play ANY role is not equal being able to play ALL necessary team roles at once

  • it’s a way to add more diversity especially when there are free mercs rotations because 80% of the players I see have the same free mercs.

Or maybe they should implement an algorithm so not all the community has the same 3 mercs at the same time, Idk.

If the second thing will be in the game, the game will be pay to win.

Why should there be more incentive for leveling? This means nothing. Your ideas will do nothing to keep players in the game in the long run. After a while you have all mercs, with all load outs you want in cobald and gold. If you are about collecting “rare” loadouts/items, you are in the wrong game. There are other games that are way more suited to players who like to level up by collecting XP and gather rares.

The Extra slots for buying bundles will never happen, because you will get an in-game advantage for buying stuff with real money.

idk i think for this game the better way still when the game was in alpha, you can chose merc, can paint skins it some colors and can choose the weapon that u want to play.

like that

I like the idea of bigger chance for items (but obviously much lower numbers than in your example) and the borrowing from the store is a nice idea too but I think it should be a feature that you get for free without any level limit and stuff. Maybe every week (reset at Sunday 00:00 UK time) let you borrow any bronze loadout card 24 hours

But the extra mercs in squad will make the game pay to win which we don’t want

As much as I’d love customizable system, people would quickly find and exploit the best meta combination, to the point, where everyone exclusively uses it.

I do agree that the end game content is lacking.
Buying new mercs felt like a rewarding progress, and the only thing that kinda replaced it, was either buying/crafting bronze cards or getting lucky with RNG case drops.

And after that, the only incentive left, is saving up credits for any future mercs.

This seems okay. It’s a reason for players to keep playing the game, though I suppose it might be a bit too detached for most people to find it important.

Absolutely no, never gonna happen, nope, etc. You can’t give people more slots, it would completely break the game in more than just one sense.

This seems like a waste of credits.

See above. No way.

In 15 levels getting a free bronze is nothing.

I like some of the ideas you have. Well, I like the ideas that doesn’t increase your squad size. 3 mercs per squad seems just about right, to me. Wouldn’t want to make the game pay2win either (2nd suggestion).

Why would you say that adding a slot is “pay to win”, it’s “pay to have choice”, having more mercs on your squad isn’t going to make you stronger but more versatile. A pay to win option would be “you choose any weapon to play with”. That’s for me a pay to win.
Buying mercs with real money is just a way for the player to gain time, this is a free to play game and when you buy, you should have this little “one more thing” for the effort of paying you have done. In other hand, someone talked about “you must be creative with 3 mercs”, I like that idea.

@Kelben
"Why should there be more incentive for leveling? ". Maybe you got me wrong, in fact it’s not really incentive to level up, the finality is incentive to play more hoping the players base is big enough and constant for the game not no die.
“If you are about collecting “rare” loadouts/items…”, Absolutely not, in fact I’m myself not interested in higher cards then bronze, but in such games, like would be Diablo, the hope of getting something good is omnipresent when you open a crate, it’s in our nature. Of course the gameplay is all about, but that “hope” is integrated in the game, so why not use it and get something better out of it.

I said this, because in my view all those rewards, missions, incentives whatever is done to get people to play besides the actual game (that is 5vs5 with FF on, because this is how this game is meant to be played) will be detrimental to the health of the game.

It has the effect that players get conditioned for a certain aspect of the game. And that aspect is credits and load outs. For me a big reason that this game is failing to build a real community is, that from the very beginning the goal that is set for us is to get credits, the heavy focus on rare load outs, the RNG events and all the fluff around it. By doing so, SD has to keep putting out new collectables. If they stop doing so, people are having no more goals to hunt for. That is for me also one of the reasons why ranked is dead. Playing as a team, to improve, learning strategies, all the stuff that is usally important in a FPS has no priority in DB.

For me, SD went a really wrong path with that approach and it will be very difficult to switch the mindset of their players away from Pokemon DB to lets play competitive. which is the only way to keep the game alive in a serious way without having to give us new artificial goals to reach. Of course, they can keep doing that and they could be successful with it, but they advertised this game as competitive, as being done by developers with clan background, being difficult and so on. And this is the direction I want this game to go to and no Pokemon collecting game, where you have to play a FPS to get the credits to buy your cards.

Edit: and about the p2w. by a 4th or 5th slot, you will have a in-game advantage. thats just a fact.
