Some ideas for whoever wants them...

Serious stuff:

Control over how much health everyone has. The one gripe a lot of people I’ve spoken to have re ET is that you die far too quickly, so it should be possible for server admins to set things up so that the ‘base’ health level is, say, 200 instead of 100.

Everyone gradually healing (like medics do now, but slower). Once again, admins would have control.

Better behaved MG stands - You should be able to use the MG stand while standing or crouching. When you try to use it, you swing the MG down from 45deg upwards to 45deg downwards. If the stand hits something on the way, it rests there. If not, you just go back to using the MG as normal.
This would allow players to rest MGs on the tops of walls etc, and not have the floating stand effect you can get now.

The ability to grab a gun lying on the ground regardless of whether it fits your class (except maybe heavy weapons). You wouldn’t be able to use the special features of it, however (only coverts could use scopes, only engs could use rifle nades), and it’d have a wider spray (as your char whould be unused to it).

Fun stuff:

Grappling hooks. Worms ninja-rope style. Swing from building to building, firing a panzer, anyone?

More, different guns - I’m thinking shotgun (two rounds per clip, slow to reload, each shot is a fairly wide spray of about 20 bullets) and minigun (takes a second to warm up before firing and slow down again after firing, slows the player down like a heavy weapon, no reloading - it draws straight from the ammo stock).

The ability to carry multiple knives, and throw them.

Just some random thoughts. Hope someone likes them enough to implement them. :cool:

Then it is obvious that those players need to work on their skills and not rely on some one else to implement it into a mod. Lets say the server admin sets the max health to 200 to appease the newbies on his server. People (everyone) will have to exhaust twice (or more) as many shots to kill players (except in the case of Panzerfaust). This of course would be ridiculus since it wastes ammunition needlessly. This would be fine and dandy if the gameplay was EXACTLY like Quake 3’s (no reload code, so you can fire all the ammo without pausing in between reloads), but it’s not.

At least that is my opinion. The health is fine as it is, it’s the player’s skill that needs the work.

Yeah i dont think the Health idea is a good one, Uber Medics are bad enough without an entire game full of em.

I like the Gun one, eveyone should be able to pick up any gun but not necessarily the special abilities of it!

People only die quickly when headshooted which means hax… erm, decent players.

If you cant stay alive for long then your doing something wrong or you just gotta play elsewhere easier? The grappl hook is a major bad idea, especially if your talking implementing it straight to ETMain… CTF mod maybe…

I agree with the above comments – giving people 200 health as a baseline will tend to upset playbalance in favor of the defender, due to their proximity to health cabinets, having medics sitting around throwing out packs, and just in general being able to set up and prepare for the attack (especially on pubs).

Plus, I don’t think you would see a huge difference in how long you live-- if you consistently lose in 1v1 battles with 100hp, you’re probably going to lose a 1v1 battle with 200hp, only probably by a wider margin. Once you get into a 1v1, it’s very hard to just run away, so the best possible outcome is that you last a couple more seconds in a firefight.

Shotgun is an interesting concept-- it could potentially represent all that is wrong with panzernoobs running right up into your face and detonating, only without the penalty of getting vaporized yourself. Actually, come to think about it, that isn’t a good idea at all. Heh.

Would be cool to modify the xp settings…so you can make some changes there.

-For instance one you could modify classes. Once you get fourstar medic and four star cov’t ops you could be a radical medic that can steal clothes or even you can like the shrub mod have the adrenaline for the covt ops and use it with stolen pants and still be under cover

-You could also make the four star engineer be able to achieve other abilities - such as able to construct mobile guns and sentries and command posts.

Those are just some examples for ideas…the build for xp is almost limitless. I get bummed out a lot after I achieve a four star in everything…then there’s nothing more to achieve. I’d love to see more radical implementation of differing xp variables after you’ve reached a four star general.

-Quicker Firing
-Spot Enemy Alert
-Higher Jumping
-Bring back the Kick like in RCTW - I’d love to be able to kick someone in the back and have it like a back knife stab or something
-Even Combo kicks…lol ET Mod meets Mortal Death with a finishing move… lol Ok I’m gettin’ nuts now so I’ll end it there.

I’ve already implemented a version of the gun thing in the next version of baconET. Admins have to set b_pickupweap to 1 for players to pickup any dropped weapon, including heavy weapons.

^^above poster: The kick was done only in SP, and theres no third-person animations + there’s no first-person animation for it in ET.
So basically all you’re asking for is a shove that does damage…

Someone could still make one - I was adding to Irrelavents ideas that could be implemented. Someone could always add a kick to a mod. Another thing that would be cool would be to be able to put a choke hold on an individual like in splinter cell. Of course your going to have to make the animations and scripting, etc…but boy that’d be fun. Sneak up to someone - and you see the little choke symbol like you’d see the knife symbol and BLAM. He’s in the choke hold…and has to push like 20 buttons in order to break it off…or there’s a little indicator bar that whoever pushes the buttons the fastest wins. Of course just being creative here. But as far as the kick is concerned…who cares if it was only implemented in the SP - someone could make a mod and bring it back. More work of course…but hey I’ve run outta ammo and it’d be fun to have my kicking back instead of just the knife.

Yes! That’d be a great start. No damage to teammates, and as long as you have slighly different sounds for hitting enemies/teammates…

Would it be possible to allow for kicking doors open, too?

Finally - kicking grenades!
