Some ideas for competitive and a new map model

In my opinion by the time the game gets out of BETA the gap between new players and oldschool players will be so big that the new players will simply give up and that is something the community doesn’t want to happen.
Prices for competitive are indeed needed in order to get some people excited about playing it. I have to say when there was the mission about win a competitive match or just play one there were a lot more new players trying to play ranked and I really don’t know why they removed it. They should put that mission back and not for 1000 credits but for 2000 since it’s competitive and more difficult and therefore should be more rewarding.

One other thing which is just a simple idea is adding a small map and when i say small i mean small… with two objectives only where a party of 2 or 3 people can play 2vs2 and 3vs3. The map itself can contain one C4 plant in the beginning and a obj delivery as a second objective like sp_delivery in Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. This will make people work on their teamplay since it’s only one or two people they can rely to. Before unlocking 5on5 competitive the 2on2 and 3on3 will be unlocked first since it’s easier to make a 2on2 and 3on3 group with your friends and if you just have downloaded the game you have better reason to make a friend play with you instead of looking for 5 friends of yours which might or might not agree on downloading the game.

Feel free to give ideas for such map or your opinion in the matter. I believe that if the community gives ideas for the map it will be easier and faster for the developers to create it!

EDIT: Oke, I’ve created the basic idea for now… I can keep working on it depending on what you guys think : P @RazielWarmonic

Of course I didn’t go into detail putting crates, plants and such… but once those things are added I think the map will look pretty awesome :wink:

One thing I forgot is some places for arty and skyhammer to do their thing… Well the simple solution is a glass ceiling or open space before they enter the office area xD

Very good point about the reward for playing competitive.
At the moment because of the time it takes to gather 5 players, search and find a competitive game and actually play it, you’d be getting a lot more xp and credits by simply playing public stopwatch without all the waiting time for search and also potentially playing with more players, so again maximising your chances of scoring xp and credits.
And I’m not even going to mention the number of people who surrender quickly in competitive, meaning you get for example 50 credits for that game after having waited 15 minutes to find it.

I don’t think new players should be forced to play competitive by giving them missions to do so, however there needs to be bigger rewards for those who do decide to play competitive.

The small map and team size is also a good idea. Very often I have 1 or 2 friends with me but not 4, and this would be the opportunity to play competitive anyway.

Well there are missions for execution,objective and stopwatch why there shouldn’t be one for competitive…You say that ppl shouldn’t be forced to play competitive but i don’t wanna be forced to play execution for example… It would be cool if after lvl 10-15 you start getting missions for competitive in my opinion.

Sorry for sounding rude, but the map is pretty awful.
Some slapped together, square-shaped office rooms with low ceiling are boring as hell and don’t fit the game at all.
Also the other sugestions were either already discussed a lot, or just bad. The comp mission was removed for a reason.

I know why this mission was removed. Whenever I tried to fullfil it, I failed, because I couldn’t stand the waiting. So, no, I don’t think more people played ranked back then.

I’ve putted closed ceiling just so i don’t bother making skydome and directional light… I guess u didn’t read the topic or comments… this is just a concept for the devs to work on. And to Beryl … if there are missions for all other game modes there should be one for competitive as well and games were pretty quick back then, no more than 2 minutes. And maybe because everyone is following your logic to not play competitive because of the waiting is the actual reason why ranked is dead which actually is not true… during the day queue times take 5mins. Saturday and Sunday even less than 5mins and I’m telling you that as Elite ranked, so it’s even faster for the rest. What we’re trying to do here is improve queue times and make more people play ranked.

Competitive ain’t a gamemode.
Also you don’t understand what I mean about the ceiling. It’s not about the airstrike abilities, but the vertical space of a map. You should know that as an “Elite ranked”.

to make it simple i like the map cuz it’s indoors map and all the maps we have on DB now is outdoors so i think it’s cool to have 1 map where u fight inside . and 1 more thing u should add some opening for the airstrikes and lasers cuz if it’s locked without some passage to get the airstrike threw then skyhammer , kira etc… mercs will be useless

Underground is totally outdoors. Even the name says it: “Underground outdoors” :smiley:

u can use kira and skyhammer in underground map and their abilities 2 so it’s kinda both indoors and outdoors map
