[SOLVED] Steam don't start Dirty Bomb

Hi all.
I hope that i find here in this forum with help of you amazing guys a soulution with my strange DB problem.

My problem:
I can’t start Dirty Bomb using Steam.
When i click on the start button from dirty bomb the “Dirty Bomb launches” messagebox pops up just for 1 sec. and closes again. Also my steamprofile switches shortly to “ingame Dirty Bomb”.
When i got an open taskmanager, there is nothing going on while i try starting Dirty Bomb.

When i try to start the Dirty Bomb binary directly without using steam theres a windows error message comming up.
(Tried to open the “ShooterGame-Win32-Shipping.exe” which is located at “D:\Programme2\Steam\steamapps\common\Dirty Bomb\Binaries\Win32” on my system.)

The Errormessage means, that the XINPUT1_3.dll is not made to launch with windows or the file is corrupt.
Maybe here is the problem?
From this step on i tried to fix the problem --> see “My failed trouble- shooting”.

My system:

  • CPU: Intel i7-4790K @ 4ghz
  • Mainboard: Asus Maximus VII Hero
  • RAM: 8gb Corsair Vengeance Pro Series
  • GPU: Zotac gtx970 4gb
  • HDD: 2x SSD 128gb
  • OS: Windows7 64bit

My “systemsetup”
Dirty Bomb was running without Issues on my old PC. My New System is 3 weeks young and installed from Scratch.

  • Newest Windows update running
  • Newest Nvidia Drivers
  • OS installed on C: (first SSD)
  • Steam and Games installed on D (second SSD)

My failed trouble-shooting
Following steps i tried:

  • Started steam as administrator
  • Closed my Antivirus (avira), and switched of windows firewall
  • Started steam as administrator and made a file verification for Dirty Bomb
  • Started steam as administrator, cleared Dirty Bomb data and downloaded new
  • Tried various XINPUT1_3.dll from internet (actually to original one). (There i got some different windows error message when i tried to open Dirty Bomb directly with “ShooterGame-Win32-Shipping.exe”)

Hopefully someone of you guys can help me, i really like to join DB again as fast as possible! :slight_smile:

Hey guys!
Right now i was able to fix the problem!

In my opinion it had something to do with corrupt directx dlls!

As i saw when i try to start DB directly using “ShooterGame-Win32-Shipping.exe” theres the windows error message about the “XINPUT1_3.dll”.

I did following:

  • Downloaded dxwebsetup.exe from Microsoft
  • Deleted the “XINPUT1_3.dll” from C:\Windows\System32\ and C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
  • Run dxwebsetup.exe

After this three steps i got the same errormessage but with an another DLL file! (in my case “X3DAudio1_7.dll”).

I repeated the same three steps with the “X3DAudio1_7.dll”…and for 5 or 6 more dll’s.

Now it’s working!
Really don’t know why this happend, since my PC is set up freshly 3weeks ago.

Maybe my exprerience with this problem could help some other peoples. Or the DEV’s think about their installing procedure to be sure, that this can’t happen :wink:
