[SOLVED] skinning/textureing a model

Ok I folowed someons advice to name the material name with the picture (models\aburn\mytexture.jpg) which I use for the material in 3ds MAX…

Now in order to use a shader what should I use?

I want to make for example a window that would be a bit transparent… I know what shader to write I just need to know how to add the material so the exported md3 would use a shader instead of just a plane picture.

Please Help me…

Try searching for a tutorial on this on www.map-craft.com, I’m sure I read something about this, a tutorial by Weebull…

Problem is that I know how to add just a texture… from like a picture… I want to add like a shader :smiley: you know to make a window :stuck_out_tongue:

And it is just what I allready know… I will try messing arround with 3ds MAX maybe it will pay off :smiley:

I can add any shader to a model WOOO HOO!!!

I name the material affter the shader name models/aburn/material_what_ever

than I need to create a shader file in the scripts folder and it needs to be called models_aburn.shader cause it must effect on models…

WOW unlimited possibilities… the limit is your imagination!!!

Well, you can just write a shader for that texture and name the shader models\aburn\mytexture if you get me.
I might be wrong, I haven’t done any modeling/mapping in a very long time, but I believe it works. Just try it, if it doesn’t work I’ll find it out, I’ve done it a couple of times but I just forgot how to do it exactly.

Well untill I asked here on the forums… I couldn’t find anything good on modelling… Your article was really good just need to add this stuff abour shaders… cause usually just a texture is not enuf :stuck_out_tongue:

But than again not too many people would start makeing their own models like that :wink:

Ok… Another Question would be “Makeing taggs” is there a tutorial for that as well? cant really find one except for that site where u get an MD3 with just taggs (tag faker or sth)… I just finished a model and waht to add sum taggs to it like for gold/radar parts or anything else…

Anyone have any ideas… 3ds MAX is what I use… :smiley:

Sorry if anyone thinks I am spamming the forum… but I find it usefull to leave my self notes here on the forum :P… I was mapping one year ago and than stopped due to my studies… and now I started again and I have everything I read and had problems here :smiley:
