[SOLVED] Game terminates after initial loading

Solution in comments. (delete all old config-files from C:\Users%USERNAME%\Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\ShooterGame\Config)

Hi!

Whenever I start the game, it successfully launches. However, after the splash screen and a brief moment of “Loading”, the game terminates without any error or anything to troubleshoot with.

Steam also fails to validate the integrity of the game, but manages to fix it (integrity check passes the second time). However, after having an unsuccessful launch, the game fails integrity check again – which leads me to believe something is wrong with my installation rather than any software on my PC interfering. For reference, I’ve tried without firewall and antivirus, as well as an uninstall, re-download and reinstall of the game.

Thanks in advance!

Managed to dig up the log file, which reports the following error:

[0027.92] Log: === Critical error: ===
Fatal error!

Address = 0xfe417b (filename not found) [in H:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dirty Bomb\Binaries\Win32\ShooterGame-Win32-Shipping.exe]

Also get the same error which I reported on the last beta test, hopefully this will get fixed soon.

did you try starting it as admin? maybe the anti-cheat can’t access everything and throws a fit.
also check if the file is actually there and didn’t get removed for some reason.

Tried running as admin, and in compatibility mode. I’ve also tried a clean re-install as stated.
Which file are you talking about, and how would I check it?

EDIT:
Found the Steam log, which reports:

[2015-03-07 23:23:53] Validation: size mismatch “H:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dirty Bomb\Binaries\XIGNCODE\client\xnina.xem”

And I can confirm its existence, and it being updated by Steam.

xigncode is the anti-cheat engine. it probably updated itself since SD uploaded the files to steam so I assume the files don’t match.

there is a logfile for xigncode, but it’s encrypted - dunno if even CS can look at it or if they’d have to forward it to the devs of xigncode

(Zodiac) #7

Fixed it by deleting all old files from C:\Users%USERNAME%\Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\ShooterGame\Config – specifically ShooterEngine.ini and ShooterInput.ini in my case.
