So we all know the pain of having team mates that don’t drop ammo so how about a feature where you can grab the ammo directly from them?

I like the idea, but it might be abused by players with only 1 bullet missing/a lot of ammo.
I think you should only be able to take ammo if your, say, missing 40% or more of your ammo.
I’ve had a few ideas:

My favorite: every merc will complain about needing ammo until given ammo. Can only be heard by Fire Support mercs.

This one! It should start activating when a person or more have been quick chatting “Ammo!” for a long time.

anyone noticed shiny window is the perfect person, no disagrees or reports.
It’s always worth a try to write a team chat message along the line “SomePlayer, please press E to drop ammo for your teammates”.
The game could do this automatically. For example, after not dropping any ammo another player picked up for, say, a minute, it could pop up this message (in the same location as the sadly badly worded “another player is repairing” message).
Or it could auto-kick the player and start the tutorial
Add votes to enable friendly fire only on a certain player, so anyone can shank em for not giving ammo as Aura.
Game should be teamwork… If fire support isn’t dropping ammo, you know you aren’t in good team… If you can change to fire support yourself, if you can’t though (only obj. spec, or only medic) try getting your teammates to change (and I don’t mean Vassili, Vassili has very powerful abillity, and if used right it can be very helpful… I mean on 2nd Vassili or 3rd Objective specialist).
If nothing of these work, you are probably in bad team and yeah, you’ll probably lose.
Or how about a mandatory tutorial where you throw ammo to actual player models instead of some weirdo dummy, and not accompanied with hours of boring yaddayadda text making one comatose middle way through. Even better, have this ammo dropping happen in simulated “battle” where you and said player model / bot are behind cover while enemy bots are shooting you both, and your friendly bot shouts “Ammo!” in quickchat, having the actual marker on top of its head too. Until you’ve dropped ammo to it twice / thrice, tutorial doesn’t go forward.
If only friendly fire was on. Then you equip a loadout with looter augment and go kill that skyhammer (it’s always skyhammer).
Edit: whoops already suggested. In that case i suggest instead of grabbing ammo from them all skyhammers act as pinatas whether or not friendly fire is on. Melee them enough times and ammo pops out.
Being able to interact on them and grab the ammo yourself and having it still cost a box from the other player would be nice.
Actually, now that I think about it, we should have a merc that acts as their own ammo station.
Guys, there are ammo crates on maps for a reason. Learn to use them if the ammo guys aren’t dropping the goods. I’ll ask once or twice but after that I’m off post refilling my ammo. If people don’t want free points that’s their problem.
This ^
If your team isn’t giving ammo or nobody is playing a fire support merc then scamper on over to an ammo crate and pick some up. Otherwise switch to a fire support merc yourself.
Honestly I wouldn’t mind being able to toss a clip of ammo to someone if they need it. :\
id make it so that every 30 seconds unless you have dropped ammo or have an ammo station up an unmutable from in game headset destroying eardrum poppingly loud soundbite of this songs chorus plays on a loop until they drop ammo
Maybe Splash Damage should license Clippy from Microsoft and have him pop-up if you haven’t dropped ammo in a while?
