Soldier. Kevlar Vest & Armor Piercing Rounds

(Hippnotic) #1

Topic.

I have a forum discussion of this over at bethesda’s forums. I’m getting alot of response on the issue entirely, so I know i’m not the only one inquiring about this.

Kevlar Vest

It seems to me that Engineer’s can still buff you with a Kevlar Vest themselves, EVEN THOUGH you have the Ability as a Soldier class. Soldier’s Kevlar Vest ability is as such:

“Kevlar Vest increases your damage resistance while you are a SOLDIER. Enemies equipped with Armor Piercing rounds can still do full damage to you.”

…and Engineer’s Kevlar Vest details:

“Extra Kevlar allows you to give your Teammates additional Armor protection that lasts until they die. You cannot administer this buff to yourself, OR TO A SOLDIER WHO ALREADY HAS THE KEVLAR ABILITY.”

Basically, there’s no “indicator” showing that you actually ARE wearing the Kevlar Vest, or using the APR (Armor Piercing Rounds). It seems to me that they are both a bit bugged because I still take pretty much the same amount of damage as I did before. Same for APR. (Doesn’t seem like i’m killing anyone any quicker then anyone else is)

I basically need a developer or someone to PLEASE clarify these 2 issues, and inform me and the rest of the community that they actually DO work.

I’m working on a Light Body Soldier/Operative, and these are 2 things stopping me from continuing the build.

NOTE: My 1st ever Character was a full-fledged Soldier. That’s where I came to these assumptions. And as such my main Character is now an Engineer.

Really? Nobody?

Or, is this topic just not in the right place? (IF so can it please be moved appropriately?)

I really want clarification on these things, and so does a # of people over at Bethsoft Forums.

So, please, someone HELP!

Hey, I have the same problem. I had the Kevlar ability, and a teammate came up to me and gave me a kevlar vest. I just figured it would give them extra points, never read about it on the Engineers abilities list. My bullets don’t feel like they do much, either, but it could always be like that, and the armor piercing rounds are working. I’m just not sure though. It is in the right place, and it has happened for me too, on PC. So they could put it to all platforms.

The Kevlar and the Armor piercing bullets do not work. A buddy of mine and I tried this, as we are both soldiers. He has both, so I stood there and let him kill me. I respawn and he runs back and changes his load out to a medic. He then shoots me again, same amount of bullets. Hmm thats odd. So I change my class to a medic and dont buff myself, run back out to him, he has switch back to his soldier load out, and guess what he drops me with the same amout of bullets. Hmmmmmmmm

Yea my buddy would be Tope

This has been discussed in the general forum meanwhile. Exedore clarified that if you want to search his posts.

The abilities all do work and are not bugged.

Kevlar ability on soldier is a passive skill with no indicator. You get a 0.8 damage multiplier if you have a skill point there.

As soldier you CAN get the kevlar buff with the kevlar ability together though other described. It ends in 0.7 of damage you receive.

It seems common in brink that a second thing adds half of the last thing. 20% for the first buff, another 10% for the second -> 30% or *0.7
Same for the two levels of the damage buffs of the engineer and also for additional objective speed. First hacker goes with full speed, the second hacker gives 50%, third 25%, then 12,5% which is already not really noticeable.

EDIT: The bullets work too and simply make you (and only yourself) ignore others lowering damage multipliers resulting in full damage.
