You work and finish a atm complete useless Statssite and announce a DLC while your game is still not running good or not even starting for a big amount of people?

Great Job SD,really.

Are we,the people that can’t play your game (but purchased it!) not part of the community anymore?
We get NOTHING from you while the people that acutally can play the game get a statssite and a DLC they can enjoy in some days while the people that can’t play the game still… CANT PLAY THE GAME!

And we are not even getting some information from you regarding those problems.

Will you start a rage thread everyday or are you just here to entertain us?

Naaah,not every day.

If you don’t like it,there is always a…

Your game propably runs GREAT right?

I’am just pissed that they announce a DLC and make a stats site before they have their game patched so you could say that this is a release version (some minor bugs here and there but nothing gamebreaking).

Not understandable right?

You do know they can work on more than 1 thing at a time right, or should the mappers, texture artists, modellers, animators etc. just grab some pompoms and cheer on the coders while they work?

This shock news just in - game programmers and artists shunned in favour of specialised web talent

It has emerged that almost none of the core SD game team were involved in the development of the recently launched stats website. Some members of the public were shocked to find that SD employed actual web developers to do their web development work, rather than trying to use game engine programmers to do “other people’s jobs”.

One engine programmer, who was forced to continue work on improving the game and producing DLC, stated in confidence “I’m gutted to be honest. I fancied doing some web development on the stats site - those PHP guys get all the best jobs. I guess I’ll just have to get back to working on the game again. Sucks to be me”.

TL;DR - Web Developer != Game Developer, therefore pointless thread is pointless. Stats site was in the works all along, and there’s no reason to assume that any of the core team were involved in it’s creation. Well done again sirius!

I know that they work one more then 1 thing at a time,if they wouldn’t,brink propably wouldn’t be out by now but that’s not the point.

Announcing a DLC while the vanilla game is still a bloody mess and not playable for a big amount of people is a bit bolt isn’t it?Even if it’s free…
I mean, what am i supposed to do with the DLC?Experience it with 20 FPS?

Many developers did that now with previous titles and it always resulted in flamewars and rage or people not buying the DLC at all.Retaliation pack for Crysis 2 cough cough

Don’t know,that’s how i see it.

But it’s still playable for a lot of people as well, what good does delaying DLC do when it simply isn’t required? It’s not like you’re going to get any additional effort put into a fix from the people that won’t be working on it anyway. The patches will be worked on regardless of DLC, the DLC will be worked on regardless of the patch… I’m not seeing your point of view here at all, sorry. Once your issues are resolved, you’ll have instant access to the DLC rather than having to wait.

The only reason you’ve given for not releasing it is simply because you won’t be able to play it rather than any practical reasoning.

My question is this:
How manyof the issues are SD’s fault and how many are ATI’s fault?
I mean this is the second game I’ve come across recently that has had major issues with ATI cards and it’s only when ATI release new drivers that it starts kinda working on those cards (and not all models have issues… just some models).
IMO at least a portion of the blame goes to the ATI driver guys. I’m just happy that I’ve always been an Nvidia guy.

(Someone needs to bring up a conspiracy about this being an id tech game and ATI being the leak for pre-release Doom 3)

As for announcing DLC & stats site: While working on patches they need to keep the rest of us entertained too. I mean they have people crying for content, patches and blood approximately 2 minutes after they release content, patches and blood and now you want them to hold off on announcements? That’s not going to work.

I’d imagine that there is just a feed to the website from splash damage which is then processed to display the stats nicely and probably was ready from release but needed real data to test it for bugs etc. And it makes perfect sense that they would out source it as programmers on average are crap designers!

All the stuff thats being released in the DLC was probably finished before release as well and I would imagine we can expect a patch with a number of fix’s with the DLC or thats what I’m hoping for as I couldn’t care less about two more maps like Security Tower or skins (unless they are ET skins or ETQW).
