So who's is responsible for this game?

(disapointed) #1

When I first read of the game Brink and saw the first screen shots I was truly excited, I thought this game would be a whole new way to play online in the FPS genre. Sadly it has turned out to be the curse and the blessing of this game.

This game fails (sadly) at solo and is dead online (at least on the PS3) but in typical modern day style of our current generation of game makers, they would rather make DLC to squeeze out some more cash out of people that fix the game. Just because Activision use this business model for the Call of Duty series (It may not be perfect but it at least it’s completable and playable) does not make it right.

So I have made this account just to let the people at Splash Damage that my confidence in them as game makers has taken a massive hit, Bethuda take not responsibility for the problems Brink has, Splash Damage seem to have adopted the blinkered Activision method of game making and I am guessing will be very shortly wiping their hands of the whole affair and move on to the next game.

I am so glad I only paid £20 for this game if I had bought it on launch day the game would be back in the shop in disgust. I have only every returned 1 game in my life which was worse than Brink and that was THQ’s smeg awful Fire Warrior and your game Brink nearly joined that very short list.

I shall leave you now with the forlorn hope that someone at Splash Damage will read this (I doubt it as I suspect they do not care) and I won’t be back for the inevitable “Cool Story Bro” and “U mad” flames.

Regards

Disapointed (very)

So your only real problem with Brink is that it’s not being played enough?

Can someone please translate this into English for me?

Thanks,
JJ

P.S. Of the stuff I could understand, I found it to be hilarious, in an ironic sort of way.

He lit the match and ran…

… from you guys, not me. watches the flames rise higher

(DarkangelUK) #5

He has a point though, why haven’t Bethuda take responsibility?!

Damn you Bethuda! Damn you to hell!!

It’s pretty easy to understand if you have some basic English comprehension skills to correct his mistakes as you read.

(BROTOX) #7

Who is responsible for his bad grammar?

(SinDonor) #8

I don’t know who this “Bethuda” is, so I googled it and got this image:

Damn those guys for making this game. WTF do peaceful Hindus know about gun combat?!?!?!?!

(tokamak) #9

Well for one that the guns should not be lethal. That one is obvious.

(zenstar) #10

Does this mean we’ll be getting orange robes in the next DLC?

(AmishWarMachine) #11

Forget the robes…

bright orange turban? YES PLEASE!!!

Exactly! Bethuda is the root of all evil!

Hey man, I grew up on the California Pacific coast and I can barely comprehend my native language (English I think) so, give me a break.

Typical. Someone, who likely does not speak English as his first language, raises valid points concerning this abomination of a game. Next, trolls who claim to love Brink (yet spend all day on the Brink forums rather than playing the game they claim to love) attack him for spelling and grammar. The circus continues.

I’ve got over 100hrs played in Brink, I bet you and the OP don’t have that combined.

Plus, I didn’t realize “Bethesda” was spelled “Bethuda” in other countries.

Now seriously… you got only about 100 hours?

(Oz70NYC) #18

I’ve got 173 hours of game time on Brink. And I’d love to know what part of the world the TC is from, because clearly it’s not an area that’s keen on Brink. I’m a PS3 player, and when I get on to play, matches heavily populated, and there’s always games with at the least 4-6 players in it. But I’m on the East coast of the US, so there’s a hell of a lot more people online. Does the TC make a few valid points (in between his mangled English)? Yes…he does. But to someone who views Brink as a departure from the norm and didn’t by into the hype machine as oh so many disgruntled players have, his points are meaningless to me. I acknowledge that Brink isn’t the game they said it was going to be. But at the same time, I realized that this is a 1st year IP from a relatively small developer in Splash Damage, backed financially and published by a relatively small publishers in Bethesda. (Compared to the other powerhouse publishers like EA, Rockstar, THQ and so on.) So on that fact alone, I didn’t buy into all that they promised, because I knew what they promised would take time and money they didn’t have. So I bought the game with zero expectations pro or con, and I appreciate the game for what it is. The people who generally are miffed about the game are those who believed all of the hype, media trailors and hooplah that came with it for god knows how long.

And further more, as I stated in another thread…specifically to the TC and any other newcomers to Brink. At this point, Brink is over 4 months old. There is PLENTY material available for the game. Reviews, Blogs, Vlogs, all kinds of media praising what it does right and panning what it does wrong. Bottom line, there’s info out there, and enough of it for you to DO SOME RESEARCH and make a conscious decision on if Brink is worth your money or not. If you choose not to do that, then you’re complaints are as useless as an ice cube in the desert. Because YOU didn’t do some simple homework on the game to see if it had enough appeal to you to purchase it. Would you buy a house without finding out the facts of it and looking at the interior and exterior? Would you by a car without giving it a test drive and finding out what it’s MPG is? No, you wouldn’t. But because this is a video game, you’d assume that kind of stance isn’t needed, and it is. Threads like this one would never exist now, 4 months later…if people did. Back in May & June, I’d give you a pass…because the game was still new. But it’s not anymore, and the gaming world pretty much knows of Brink’s pros and cons. If you choose not to look into those factors before buying it, you have no one to blame but yourself for not liking it. [/thread]

Dude broham which part of California? I’m in the bay area :).

Yeah, not bad so far. I am sure I am in the top 25% of time played for Brink players worldwide, considering a large portion of them prolly played for a few days and then bailed.
