So, where do the bullets exit the gun?

(watsyurdeal) #1

So I am trying to line up my crosshair as close as possible to where the bullets exit the gun, at a distance and up close.

And what I’m finding is they don’t line up with the center of the hud very well, I am not sure if this is due to spread or just where the bullets come out at.

But if someone could shed some light on this, and where my mumble crosshair needs to be positioned I’d appreciate it.

Also, the reason I am making the thread, is because of stuff like this.

IKR, you need to aim 5mm higher than the iron sights of the k121 to actually hit people. its annoying. too jumpy.

(Szakalot) #3

lower you mean.

@OP would give you both like and insightful, so have the latter

(Pyjama_Slam) #4

Isn’t it just the center of the screen? Bullets work with hit-scan. which means the actual bullet/fire animation has nothing to do with the hit mechanics.

That said, I would assume the rifle in the first picture has a bug xD

(Nail) #5

you can’t hit center screen with even numbers of pixels unless you use 4 pixel dots

(Pyjama_Slam) #6

But with with a default 1920x1080 screen 1 or 2 pixels is nothing xD

Don’t be a d!ck, stop using ads.

Sorry I could not resist. That being said, I think every bullets in this game actually starts from the centre of your view, no matter you’re adsing or not. I don’t have any idea if there’s any command to see “tracers” (the game is indeed hitscan, but so is cs games and it still show fake tracers).

And yes, half of the ironsights are just plain bad, especially with weapons that requires it the most (Grandeur, dreiss…). Anyway, your mumble crosshair has more chance to be true than the actual tip of the ironsight.

well.

iron sights are here: ____
the bullets hit here: ====

so the iron sights need to be higher than the target, because the bullets hit lower than the actual iron sight.

(Szakalot) #9

im not sure what you mean. Typically, the tip of the line inside the circle is where the bullets are supposed to go, right?

In that case, the k121 ironsights are shown to be higher than the target.

(deftMoon) #10

true ive been experiencing that a lot lately. I do use mumble but the dot is located exactly as it would on the default. But my shot seems to be missing even though i CLEARLY hit them or passed by them. By clearly i mean im not moving and neither is the target. And the crosshair is clearly on them. I gotta move the mouse a little bit and then it finally seems to hit a little. It seems like a recent issue though.

(B_Montiel) #11

You both are talking about the 2 different pictures :stuck_out_tongue:
Except pistols, bad ironsights are higher than the actual “landing point”. K121 being one of the most obvious one. But I think dreiss, kek and hochfir also suffer from this. Pistols are mostly lower though.

yes that is what i mean.

the landing point of the bullets is lower than the tip of the line, meaning that you have to aim above your targets head to hit them, instead of aiming at their head directly. were saying the same thing, but in a different perspective.

idk about other guns, but i only notice it on the K121.

Haven’t the DB devs already said multiple times that the iron sights are wrong, and that the bullets do indeed go where the centre of the screen is?

Put the mumble crosshair in the centre and ignore the iron sights.

would like @RazielWarmonic and @stayfreshshoe confirmation.

(Szakalot) #15

@Herr_Hanz i see now, we disagreed in the meaning of aim.

your definition: you aim with the ironsights (like you would IRL),

my definition : you aim where you want to hit : P

I think u need line up your shot with the top of the pin sticking up in the sight i seem to get better kills using the top of the pin

(AnonOmis1000) #17

@Dox but should this have been fixed a long time ago? Theresa a reasonable assumption that your iron sights will be center screen. Usually I’m not that hard on devs, but honestly this seems like something that should have never been an issue in the first place.

(doxjq) #18

Don’t need to tell me dude, I understand completely haha.

@AnonOmis1000

http://forums.dirtybomb.nexon.net/discussion/22257/mumble-overlay-crosshair-not-aligned-properly-with-iron-sights

I apologize. It was Faraleth who said they were misaligned not shoe. I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t have said this if he didn’t know it for sure though.

Sadly, this is actually an issue with the iron-sights themselves – some of them are simply out of whack. The most noticeable one I can think of, off the top of my head, is the empire 9. They are SUPPOSED to be centered, but they are slightly misaligned. If you are using a crosshair overlay like that, rely on the crosshair, NOT the iron-sight.

They did some minor fixes to some of the worst aligned iron-sights a little while ago, not sure if they have plans to do further tweaks to the ones still misaligned… I would assume they would though.

(AnonOmis1000) #20

Well hopefully they fix it during the Summer Squash.
