So where did all the players go?I(360)

I have added a tonne of people to my friends list for Brink. Only 2-3 of them are constantly active and only one has a mic.

And I’m searching using a mix of all options.

I’ll try the Behesda forums, hopefully the guys there are actually active players. Cheers man.

I was playing with 3 guys yesterday, 2 from Germany, 1 from the UK, and another guy from sunny Tampa Florida. You have to add people that PLAY brink on psn or seriously consider getting an xbox. Sounds like they don’t play it enough. Good luck with your search. I play with a bunch of guys from this site. Like I said, last night I was playing 16 players, 8v8 Big team for 3 hours.

If I could get /one/ session like this it would shut me up for at least a few days. :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe it’s the time OP plays. At its peak, I think that Brink has no more than 5000 people playing.

OP, refer to majornelson.com – May 9, Brink was at the #12 spot of the Top Xbox Live Activity list. May 16, Brink was at the #16 spot. It’s currently May 28, and I suspect that the next time that list gets updated Brink will no longer be on that list. You really do have considerably less players to connect to, so you will get empty rooms from time to time. You can expect this to happen more in the upcoming months.

And someone brought up RSV2. The difference between Brink and RSV2 on consoles is that RSV2 had a server browser and lobby system. Host controlled everything – restrict certain equipment, decide what map, decide what gametype, boot people without mics, etc. That’s why there are still players and clans on RSV2 (360). Brink’s matchmaking seems to try to appeal to the casual crowd but fails because the casual crowd wants to play with friends as much as the hardcore crowd wants to play with teammates.

This stuns me. Really. Since launch I have been playing full or nearly full rooms every night. What are your settings? This is what I do:

On xbox

Go to options: Audio. set your Commands to come through your TV only.
My rank or Higher
Map: Any
Mode: Big Team or Competitive or Old SKool (VOIP is set to ON)
Search
Check scoreboard. See which side has humans. Switch to that team. Join fire team or create fire team. If they don’t use there mic. Send a friendly message asking them for help or if they have a mic or make up a question. Add them to your friends list if they are cool. Stay in rooms that have few humans and give the room time to fill. Rinse and repeat.

Unless the matchmaking is to blame, the game is just plain dead on the 360.

No doubt someone will tell me to stop moaning. But that fact remains.

I can’t see it being likely that, if a patch arrives this weekend (if at all), loads of players are going to materialise.

I’d love to play the game properly, but there are no players. I spend 75% of the time looking. Though when I do join a match is turret city.

Are you only searching in Standard Matchmaking?

Yeah, the guy knows what he’s doing. The problem is the game’s matchmaking. For example, I would leave a match that is laggy and would actually reconnect to that very same match after 100 times of trying. It’s true, the over 100 times thing is not a exaggeration. Or sometimes I would connect to an empty room by myself. It’s fine for some, it’s not fine for others. The matchmaking in this game sucks, and that’s the truth.

What is your nat type? Is it set to Open? Or strict? My nat type is set to Open. Many times the default setting of a router is set to Strict. This will make it more difficult for you to do matchmaking. I went through all of this already with Gears of War 2 and changed my settings on my router to open. Try that.

I followed Majornelson for years, and do not check it anymore because it is very inaccurate. The numbers do lie; an example: the stat is based on what disk you have in when you load up the xbox, not how long the game being is played. Also, if they added how much time is spent on Avatars that would be the no1 on the list. Believe it or not, most people do not play online at all that have consoles. Only a small segment play the game online. Top 20 means at least 50,000 people are playing in a given week.

I search, mainly, in freeplay-competitive mode with visibility set to everyone. I’ve given up until the patch has released on bigger games, even then theres no one playing those either.
