So, when Turtle and Javelin are released, are we STILL going to call this a Beta Build?

(bontsa) #21

@Jostabeere You want a flower hat, bright purple hairdye and a “Triggered” t-shirt with that Abuse flag on buffMonorail’s comment?

And yea, quite hard to see such destructive explosion inducer both balanced and effective unless it really is something like Skybro’s strike just in launcher form. Perhaps some chargin’ up time or such could do. Will be interested to see if this’ll ever be reality in any kind of form though.

(TheStrangerous) #22

But there’s more, after the beta version is done, the game will be in gamma version, then delta version, all way up to the omega version!

(Jostabeere) #23

@bontsa I don’t find a picture with a rhyme about dying children appropriate. If you do, I feel bad for you.

(frostyvampire) #24

Right now there are too many bugs that need to be fixed before the full release.
Some really common bugs like the laggy main menu and pre-game lobby, game crashing when you try to connect, getting kicked for security violation randomly, being unable to drag mercs/loadout cards and all that stuff. We can’t have the game fully released without these bugs fixed.
I just want to see Turtle and the new EV map. I already started saving credits for him :3

(SnakekillerX) #25

That game instantly came to mind as well, and its still “Beta”.
I don’t know why people care so much about DB being labeled as Beta, it just means they have more planned for it still. The time delays between any significant updates however is a bit more annoying.

i cant mention kids being burned alive but stoker burning people iz okayz cuz he burns adultz.

hooo…the world we live in…

and its only one flag?
with 4 lols?

damn these people are sadistic or what?

(Jostabeere) #27

Yes you can’t. Stoker is a fictional character in a videogame. Have you ever seen any fiction where you can burn children with white phosphorus bombs or where it’s okay? Have you ever seen what such bombs do to people? You should google it. I don’t care if I sound “triggered”. It’s wrong and making “fun” of it with pictures is wrong aswell.
You’re free to remove the “so funny” picture.

i bet you will say flare also a weapon of war.

(bontsa) #30

@buffMonorail @Jostabeere You know there is a reason I didn’t reply any more to the subject, this isn’t going anywhere here. If either feels theres something to settle lets do that in PM form.

a lot of games use the early access and alpha, beta status as a tool for marketing.it keeps them higher in steam charts and such.

this game should be a normal release now for ages.it isnt beta.

(Runeforce) #32

‘Beta phase generally begins when the software is feature complete but likely to contain a number of known or unknown bugs. Software in the beta phase will generally have many more bugs in it than completed software, as well as speed/performance issues and may still cause crashes or data loss. The focus of beta testing is reducing impacts to users’ - Wikipedia

Google Gmail was in beta for five years.

(AnonOmis1000) #33

It baffles me why you people think there’s a time limit to how long a product can be in development. It’s been a tear in open beta. So the fuck what? Plenty of games have been in alpha abd beta stages of development for years and no one complained. The game isn’t in a state where the devs are comfortable releasing it as a finished product, and I agree. While I love this game, it still needs plenty of polish work before they give it any significant advertising.

(Yoma) #34

Well, a rocketlauncher could be op but if its flightspeed isnt too fast it could be dogded more or less easy. In addition it should be rather slow to fire/slow to change to it. (slow switch weapon) With the damage at a little over 200 and a like 1 minute cooldown i wouldnt call it that op. (maybe even giving it max 2 charges wouldnt make it op)

However, so far the weaponaspect, i actually never saw Javelin ingame so cant tell more than this.

(AnimeDude) #35

Games love staying in beta, gives them an excuse for being buggy messes (not that DB is a buggy mess, besides the unresponsive, slow menus) Like warframe, which has been in beta for about 3-4 years now.

(SereneFlight) #36

If Javelin is released, that means there’s a class with 5 mercs while 4 in rest of the classes… so… beta goes on 'till all classes have 5 mercs I suppose if Javelin is being released (yes, it needed to be repeated)

(Merci1ess) #37

Obviously the reason why they’re staying in Beta as long as they are is because they rather try to find ways to make revenue instead of fixing bugs. Having a big “BETA” stamped on it makes it so that stuff like that are acceptable. It’s basically an excuse at this point. It’s an easy answer to all the negative criticism that anybody might have towards the game. “There’s so many bugs” It’s a beta. “I lost my stuff” Sorry, it’s a beta. “It’s so unbalanced!” But it’s a beta!. “There’s dead sea amounts of salt!” It’s a god damn beta. It’s unfortunate. You’ll never see bugs or glitches in micro-transactions though. Your money will always go through smooooooooothly at 1000 fps 0 ms. No invisible walls in the way there.

They may claim that they wanna finish major features, fix other stuff and get the bugs under control but just take that for example. The bugs. There’s bugs that have been there for a while now. Bugs that have been pointed out and have never been fixed after a bunch of patches were rolled out after the bugs being noted. Just that makes it hard to believe what SD says. They don’t have alot of credibility. It just makes it very hard for me to believe that this game will ever see the light of day as a full release when they claim they wanna fix bugs, have multiple occasions to do so but don’t do it. As for the maps… if they don’t wanna release the game before adding a few more maps then that’s another reason why we might not see this game in full release before 2067. They released one new map in dome… had 2 new maps coming up which we tested for maybe a weekend and then haven’t heard a peep about it ever since. I haven’t heard anything about new maps recently.

I hope they can prove me wrong.

(inscrutableShow) #38

The devs confirmed that there are more mercs coming and the rocket launcher is fully functional. That’s good enough to hope on.

(inscrutableShow) #39

While I agree with what you said, one could hope that with that amount of white phosphorus, there’d be nothing left.
