So unbelievably pissed off...

Long time surfer, first time poster.

I am so hyped for brink. But I can’t play it.

So after driving 30 minutes to wal-mart, dealing with the braindead piles of semi organic matter the wal-mart corporation calls employees, arguing with the store manager for 10 minutes, and forking over $65 that I earned through 8 hours of minimum wage manual labor, I finally had my copy of brink. On the way home I was pulled over and given a $120 speeding ticket… Can you believe that? Finally I was home, time for some brink!!! Popped disk in xbox, I am clenching my controller with white knuckles, my most anticipated game of the year is only seconds away. I feel like I deserve to relax after dealing with wal-mart and that prick cop. Wait a second… open tray?? What? Ok I open the tray and put the disk back in, open tray. Then it dawns on me, my xbox disk drive is broken. SHI*!!! MOTHER FING C*UCKER!!! AHHHHHHH WHY GOD? Why not a week ago? Why not a week from now? It was working just fine 20 minutes before I left for wal-mart. Man, I am so bummed out :’( I had to tell this to someone. I hope you guys are having a blast playing what I can only assume is a rockin game.

irritating title, thought you were mad about the game, mind changing it?
im sorry for you  kick those walmart asses!

(tokamak) #3

Woa man that sucks.

(Norb) #4

That is some major level ball ache right there.

Out of curiostiy how much over the speed limit was you going to get a fine of $120 or is that normal for the states the uk’s fine is £60 and 3 points on your drivers license which will increase price on your insurance which you have to have over here. Oh and 12 points and your banned from driving and you can get more then 3 in one go aswell.

Glad I dont have any points but my friend does haha

(bongtoker) #5

No im not mad at the game at all. I just wish I could play it. Its like splash damage scooped my brain out and made my dream game, and now I can’t play it. Hopefully I can take my xbox somewhere in the morning and get it fixed quickly.

Speed limit was 40, I was doing 55. Its my third ticket though :frowning: What a crappy night

(DazTroyer) #6

ok! you’ll need a torque screw driver, no .10 I think. Open xbox, plenty of YouTube vids around, and then open dvd drive. The laser runs on two small rods, check they are clean and carefully slide laser about half way along. Put dvd lid back on, stick in xbox and test before fitting case back on, it should work fine. Mine does this regularly.

Hope this helps.

i have this problem from time to time i just turn it on its side or flat wichever its not currenly then restart it a few times eventually it will pick up

(ClickClickBOOM) #8

(xTriXxy) #9

(boozee84) #10

omg that sucks hard. i feel sorry for you, had this crap happen to me recently and was also mad as hell!

(crazyfoolish) #11

this used to happen to me when i had a 360. Try setting your xbox up in a different place and completely resetting.

(RAAAAAAAAAAGE) #12

I feel sorry for your 360 breaking. But as for speeding. That’s all on you my man. You deserved a ticket, no offense.

You’re not missing on on anything special man. Played about 4 hours of it with my brother via online campaign. Decided to take it online, nothing new. “Team work, Team work Teamwork,” … and of course " GTFO it’s not COD " … Too true, and couldn’t be happier. But different doesn’t mean better.

And by teamwork I mean, me being the only medic on my team, my brother being the only engineer, and everyone else soldiering rambo style screaming at me to heal them. I’ll probably return it.

Looked pretty promising for a TF2 clone. Faction Vs Faction and Trailers were misleading.

You don’t even need to type anything, mate. Your nick says it all.

(AgitatedDosh) #15

That sucks man,Same thing happened to my xbox.I found that if i ejected the tray, via the button on the xbox, not the controller, fairly quick, after a few trys it would read the disc.If that doesnt work tappin the top above the disc tray while its trying to read the disc might also make it work. These are temporary fixes and may not work all the time but may work enough for u to get in a good go of brink. Also like the other posters said there are youtube vids on how to fix it but the bad thing about them is u need to buy a special tool to open your xbox case.

(Shadowcat) #16

I remember when my PS One had an issue with reading disks. The plastic rails for the IR laser had come loose. Only way to get it to work was to put the game in, then flip the whole console upside down.

(bongtoker) #17

Thanks for all the input guys. I apprecieate the advice, but I have tried everything. I found a guy close by that will fix it for $50. It comes with a 6 month warranty. Yes I know the speeding ticket was my fault lol. Also I am pretty sure that turning an xbox upside down with a disk inside would totally mess up the disk  Thanks again guys. If anyone here would like to add me on XBL my gamertag is SURGICALSH00TER. The O’s in sh00ter are actually zeros. I should be online in about 4 hours.

Also what the hell is this thing lol ----> :stroggtapir:

(Conine) #18

OP I feel your pain man. Same happened to my Playstation 3 when I popped in God of War 3 last year. Nothing spoils a perfectly good evening of killing than a broken drive. Hope you get to enjoy Brink soon.

(And it’s a tapir and we love them. Don’t say anything bad about them. The whole of SD knows your gamer tag now. You’re warned! :))
