Just so I’m clear, you can’t earn DB steam trading cards like other games by simply playing, you can only earn them via actual money based purchases?
So uh, Steam trading cards...
Are you saying that because that’s how stream trading cards work in general or did you read that on the page I linked? Because on the page it says:
"How do I get Steam Trading Cards?
We have 9 different Mercs represented.
You earn cards by purchasing items such as Elite Cases and Boosters, or buying new Mercs with cash. For every $9.00 USD you spend on Dirty Bomb, you’ll be eligible to earn another random Dirty Bomb Steam Trading Card as a bonus."
I don’t see anything mentioned about earning them through standard play, hence my query.

oh ok, lol i got from here:
http://forums.dirtybomb.nexon.net/discussion/12005/dirty-bomb-presents-steam-trading-cards
but it was since changed, and any mention of getting cards through standard play is completely gone… I’m certain it was there, and 5 cards out of 9 were said to be achievable by just playing.
someone kept the quote live:
“The first way is to just play Dirty Bomb. You’ll be able to earn up to 5 random cards (duplicates can occur) for free.”
According to the info on Steam itself (i.e. through my account) there are no playtime drops, you can only get cards by spending money on the game.
I got 4 cards and spent 5 euros on it, maybe there will be more?
Edit: just got another one
Steam trading cards is a way for Steam to incentivate users to spend money.
Usually (if not all) Free to Play games the only way to get cards is to spend money on that specific game. I think it’s a card for every 9 Dollars/Euros(?) spent.
…or you can try to buy the cards in the Steam Market.
Clearly states you have to spend 9$ USD in order to be able to get a card.
Move on, free to play folks, nothing to see here.
have max level for DB on steam already huehue (max nerd level achieved)
But yea you can earn 5 cards max while playing and the rest you have to collect via trading or buying them on the market. Everytime you have a set (all 9) you can craft a badge which you can show on your steam profile and you unlock some random things like steam chat emoticons and profile backgrounds(that you can also use for your normal desktop). There are 5 levels (lead, iron, bronze, silver gold) so you need to collect 45 cards total to get max level.
Who cares? Normally any game would drop ca. 4-5 cards for playing (if u lucky one booster pack with 4 cards instead) and that’s all.
This is never enough to craft even 1 badge. One always needs to trade those cards in or (as I usually do) buy them on the steam market.
