So, the game is already getting stale without more mercs/maps...

(chickenNwaffles) #1

There are going to be no players by the time all the mercs are released… Why not just make the game open beta and release all the mercs at the same time?

As it is, right now, if SD keeps balancing the mercs based on the current pool, once the true counters to certain mercs (nader to proxy), the game is going to be very imbalanced.

I guess this is a problem for longtime beta players, especially since you have been playing with all the mercs already.

Personally I started playing with the last reset, and the game is certainly not getting stale yet. I actually enjoy the staggered releases, although I wonder what’s the point if people will get all the mercs anyway in open beta.

I don’t know what’s best, but I’m sure that SD is watching their player retention stats carefully.

The game has minimal appeal/incentive to casual players and has a bad monetization model. Put those 2 things together and you get https://steamdb.info/app/333930/graphs/

I disagree, playing it for the fun of it is still great.

Could we use more content? Of course, but is the game stale? Hardy

There is a maintenance outage tomorrow.

I’m pretty sure that’s when bushwacker gets added.

Just wait for it… they do pretty good with keeping it interesting, imo.

pubs have been stale since day 3 of the ‘full’ release.

(Stynzerman) #7

I am having tons of fun with this game and it’s still in beta…Keep up the good work DB !!

I ahve said this before, but if you are finding the game stale or boring at this stage then sadly its just not for you.

This game like many of this type is supposed to be played over and over on a limited map set with a limited amount of Merc’s. The fun/gameplay comes from challenging others, the core mechanics will be the same regardless of how many maps/mercs are available.

These games last only when the community can make content. Such as maps, not only is it better for the community but it’s better for the devs too. Players making content for free is great for them. Otherwise it’s not as competitive or there’s not enough content. Dev’s cant put out either at a decent rate. It’s just not feasible.

maybe you find it stale cause of all the gfx-less configs?

imagine how it feels to people who have been playing these same maps since alpha…

tbh, I played only a few hours of this and I am already bored.

The reality is:
I built my own gaming rig, and love it. I have a PC for gaming at least because I want max graphics. I want it to look amazing and run amazing. Even when competing. I hate seeing people turn a game, that developers worked hard on to make look great, into something that looks like it plays on the N64. If this is what you have to do to make the game run so you can have excellent framerate, then o well. But I see a bunch who have great rigs and they still stamp it down to crappy looking so they can gain all visual advantages in playing-

Really, I think there should be a competitive standard, because for example if a game was made to depend on smoke or debris to obscure the view or affect gameplay then it should not be changed. This Im sure will be seen as heretic thought, but at least consoles do force everyone to run things (although poorly) at the same level.

Jesus, unless you’re utterly commited to climb the ladder during Beta and a diehard opponent to config edits can we just drop the topic?

It’s so damn subjective it hurts.

Somebody is happy to play with extremely low graphics? Sweet.
You think that it’s diminishing the intention/integrity/whatever of the game? Sweet.

You do you.
They’ll do them.

Neither of you is hurting the other.

Some day SD will make a statement on the subject (or maybe they won’t but in not making one, they are). Until then, chill.

(Nail) #15

before release a lot of variables will get max/min limits

(BK201) #16

Couldnt agree more i think all mercs should be realeased now and the devs can just tweak them as they go. Also we need more maps and maybe release the UDK so we can create our own.

(Nail) #17

UDK has been free to download forever
