Hello All,

This new Phantom merc is causing quite the stir, been playing none stop since he’s been out, played as him and against him as other mercs, this guy is definitely 100% OP. Way to easy to use one shotting squishy mercs and two shotting tanky mercs. My problem with this guy is that he’s ruined the dynamics of the game its no longer about whos the best at map movement, strafe patterns, and aiming its now about who’s the best at hiding (by hiding I mean turning on refractive armour and standing still in the open) and using a Katana. Joining lobbies with 2 or more Phantoms is definitely not fun…at all!

The proof is in the pudding every game I’ve played a Phantom has been at the top of the leader boards due to sheer amount of frags, in some cases seeing ridiculous K/Ds that until now I haven’t witnessed.

Since open beta I’ve played this game non stop almost falling in love with this game, a well balanced FPS with great teamplay and a wicked range of mercs… The problem I’m having is ever accepting a merc like Phantom in a game like this honestly this might be abit drastic but its just my opinion I really dont think he belongs in DB. Either nerf the katana bigtime or replace it with throwing knives, something needs to happen and I’m sure it will it is open beta after all… But for now I will be taking a break from DB and wait to see what happens with this dude judging by the uproar this guy has caused a nerf will definitely becoming his way. The question is will a nerf be enough I’m not so sure if it will :S

Your “proof” is not proof. It happens every time a new merc is released.

Nerf points for kills into the ground and jack up objective (attack/defend), and being near objective, defending objective completion points sky high. Would also help with the problem of the CoD idiots going off on lone wolf rambo missions.

Agreed to some extent this does happen with new mercs, however I think with Phantom its more obvious that he’s OP and needs a nerf. Playing as him i’ve had some pretty ridiculous K/Ds that were stupidly easy to obtain… Sitting waiting for a spawn wave to appear with refractive armour on then ganking everyone in the back shouldnt be that easy.

Also other mercs that have been release before havent dominated games like this guy, nor have felt as overpowered as him or shown it in games.

That actually sounds hilarious and I think that’s the exact point of him.

Every merc has the potential to get a crap ton of kills. When rhino came out I was averaging 40-50 kills a game and maybe 5-10 deaths. Now people know how to kill rhino.

People will learn how to kill phantom. It’s just the natural progression of new mercs in Dirty Bomb.

It is hilarious and believe me when I’ve done it in games I cant help but laugh, especially when he drops the “its knife to meet you” line xD… But if it is the point of him then again its ruined the dynamics of the game for me.

You could be right and I understand that introducing new mercs means a new way of playing and having to learn how to counter/kill him, but with this guy he just feels so strong, it feels like im playign the game on easy mode. I feel for anyone that plays the squishy proxy like mercs because they drop so easy… Turn on refractive armour wait for medics and proxys to appear right click kill kill kill job done, its literally as easy as that.

Once again this is the same with every merc that gets released. UMG THE GAME HAS CHANGED SO MUCH. But it hasn’t. We are still recovering from when they took out the majority of mercs from the game.

Yeah phantom has def ruined this game for sure, well for me atleast… alot of people saying he’s fine, i think its players that were bad/average before now they have phantom… EASY MODE :wink:

Which will be patched/fixed with future updates and patches. We’re still in beta people.
