So obviously there is a new railgun/sniper hack/glitch/whatever...

(Oko) #21

Ahh you mean those who left within the first weeks?

no, most had given the game a chance and the last known players (at least I know) had left later… 2nd to 3rd year

Not sure this has anything to do with the playerbase…

no it has not… reason is simple, the playerbase nowadays has a way better system (of course) and that is the advantage, even over those, who know how to play this for years…
hardware related issue… Some things will never change… That has been the same for over 15 years

Well, it may just be because people start to have a brain after 5 years of playing the same campaigns on the same server with the same people ?

lol… sorry for being brainless since release…

Hardware advantages only existed the first year or so, when players were struggling to meet the system requirements. ETQW nowdays can fly on the most average systems today, so its not a big deal.

A macro can remove all the downsides so all you have to do is aim and fire. Of course zooming in and out might reduce accuracy, but usually this bug is abused in close range where it barely has any effect on aim.

(Dthy) #24

The lose in accuracy is hardly a loss at all. Considering a single shot to the body does ~70 damage and the rate of fire can which can be achieved gives the sniper the highest DPS of any weapon. I don’t think the railgun would be OP when compared to the Sniper (considering that they are long range weapons) and the railgun has a damage curve (charge up time between shots). An easier counter (which obviously won’t happen) would of been to allow the GDF to not be stuck in scope when firing (without exploiting) much like the railgun and blaster.

(rUBBEN) #25

I meant reailgun would be overplayed because then you can switch to the blaster very quickly, even without doing the flash scope glitch.

(Dthy) #26

But doing the sniper exploit can give you 150+ dps (It is possible to fire it three times in a second if you can do it correctly, but difficult) This is enough to kill any infantry with body shots alone (even an aggressor with a team of techinics in a 12v12, since health can only go up to 140 afaik). I think they’re reasonably balanced (like I said earlier, they’re snipers which are for long range). The fact that you can switch to blaster immediately is to counter the constant damage of the sniper.

This thread is so 2007.

(Dthy) #28

This thread is a time machine.

(murka) #29

Yea, i wonder how long it takes until people start talking about some newer(2009 or later) glitches like the strogg force field passthrough bug.

(Dthy) #30

inb4 net_clientprediction

(Kl3ppy) #31

wasnt that one fixed?

(murka) #32

I think that was discovered somewhere around 2010 when someone planted sewer overflow hatch before the first primary objective was done. I’m quite sure nobody has waved fixes at that.

(light_sh4v0r) #33

I thought that was done with the icarus bug?

(Celebrian) #34

You mean strogg agressor planted overflow hatch, or gdf soldier uses icarus?

(Dthy) #35

He means the icarus bug which can skip th hack objective on lolcano. Afaik it doesn’t work on any other map (invisible walls).

(.N.E.R.D.) #36

yeah it does, but not as useful  You just gotta watch coldcookies volcano glitchvids

(murka) #37

So nobody knows about the bug i’m talking about?

(Dthy) #38

I do http://www.own3d.tv/Breo/video/101433

(Rex) #39

Glitches, did I hear glitches?

(Celebrian) #40

But it’s going to explode? I also tried it once a long time ago, but as I remember it does not explode.
