So, let's talk about Assault Rifles for a bit

We’ll likely get to the other guns later at some point when I have the time to discuss them, but I wanna bring up issues of game balance really quickly in regards to Assault Rifles, so let’s get to it.

First off, the Timik and M4, here’s the stats and average ttk

M4

Damage: 14
Rate of Fire: 536
Clip: 35
80 HP: 0.34-0.56
90 HP: 0.34-0.67
100 HP: 0.34-0.78
110 HP: 0.34-0.78
120 HP: 0.45-0.9
150 HP: 0.56-1.12

Timik

Damage: 14
Rate of Fire: 550
Clip: 35
80 HP: 0.33-0.54
90 HP: 0.33-0.65
100 HP: 0.33-0.76
110 HP: 0.33-0.76
120 HP: 0.44-0.87
150 HP: 0.54-1.09

As you can see, the differences are…well, minimal at best

I feel like the Timik’s damage model could use some tweaking to make it entirely different weapon, considering it’s Stoker’s main, and considering he has the ammo station molotovs, it seems like it should be a great defensive rifle, so something that appeals to marksmen with good control of their aim.

I think the best solution, is upping the rate of fire, lowering the damage by one point, and lowering the clip size to something smaller to compensate. Here’s my proposal

Timik

Damage: 13
Rate of Fire: 660
Clip: 27
80 HP: 0.27-0.55
90 HP: 0.27-0.55
100 HP: 0.27-0.64
110 HP: 0.37-0.73
120 HP: 0.37-0.82
150 HP: 0.46-1.0

Due to the higher rate of fire, the gun will likely be less accurate while spraying, so you’ll need to tap fire more, and do to the lower clip size you’ll need to be more careful with your shots to reap the benefits of a faster ttk than the M4.

So in other words, if you can handle it, the Timik will kill faster, if not, the M4 has better accuracy and control.

As for the burst fire rifles, their main differences is one has a scope, the other does not, I wonder if the AUG would benefit from a 2 shot burst instead, with the fire rate altered to compensate.

As for the Dreiss, I’ve said this before in another thread but I felt the problem with it was it’s handling and damage, a faster RoF doesn’t help it in it’s role. It should do 30 damage instead of 25, and have a rock solid RoF of 270 or 240 rpm, so if you’re accurate with it you’ll be dropping people like flies.

Of course it also depends on what happens when Red Eye comes out with his M14

So far tho, anyone disagree with my suggestions?

Personally id rather timik go up in damage, but with lower rate of fire.

Either way, the guns def. have to differ more, it used to be Timik being the best assault rifle in the game, but they nerfed it and nerfed it, and now M4 is way better.

Timik currently has noticeably higher spread & recoil compared to M4 in exchange for very small DPS increase. They could increase damage falloff of M4 & decrease Timiks falloff in return to make Timik more suitable for mid to long range & M4 better for closer ranges.
This would be one way to make them more unique without playing around with recoil and spread values any further.

Either way something should be done to Timik as the current minor dps increase just is not worth the loss of accuracy in comparison to M4.

Upping the damage is certainly possible, but I’d recommend nerfing the clip size as well as a trade off.

25 shots, less accuracy, but overall better damage output seems fair

i know the game doesnt need to follow the lines of the real weapons, but if it will, then the Timik (an AK variant) should have more power, less accuracy and less RoF than the M4!
I think the M4 is fine for now but the timik should be more like this:
Damage: 19 (at least)
Rate of Fire: 500
Clip: 30
with more or less same control as of now… this way it would kill an 100HP merc in 6 shots (less than 1sec, assuming you hit every shot and all bodyshots, assuming there arent different dmg multiplier on different parts of the body)

PS: these were just calculations made on top of my head so dont take them as precise!

I think the AKs are modeled after 74s not 47s so they’re 22 cal not 30 cal
