This comment is half a year old. I remember leaving comp months ago twice a row and not receiving a 3 hr penalty.
Someone official can confirm if this is still working or not?

i just played again today i didn’t even realize there was a patch this week i was too busy this week my pc was off all week i jus tknow they reset ranks

ill have time saturday to do some comp matches

Aren’t tournaments always in private games? I mean, if it would be a competitive game, how do they ensure both teams get in the same room?
I believe those are private rooms, and you can still get a full team done in a private game.

Please keep posts relevant with current information then. I played comp back in march during the closed beta but it isn’t applicable to this thread here. They were particularly discussing leavers, not 5 man pre-mades.

I have played 6 of placement matches so far this season.
Game 1: 4v5 ( d/c almost immediately @ start) loss
Game 2: 5v5 ( 5v4 @ 1/2time) win
Game 3: 5v4 ( d/c before warm-up end, game paused shortly w/o player’s return) win
Game 4: 5v5 ( 5v1 @ 1/2time) win
Game 5: 5v5 ( off/on afk teammate) loss
Game 6: 5v5 ( good game) loss

A possible fix for this would be a prompt when you click leave game:

Cancel
Vote for Surrender: no penalty
Leave: ____ hr penalty

I can’t believe i’m the only one smart enough not to play ranked. It’s the beta and frankly your chances of climbing in Solo Que is a complete joke.

Once they add better measures to where leavers do not affect the ranked you should play.
However I believe the best move would be to rank players based on their score and performance, not whether they win or lose. The win or loss should only affect a percentage.

Other then that guys, please be smart and stay away from ranked.

i had two games yesterday; both were tight and high-skill average; matchmaking is saved for me.

Totally agree with @Jostabeere . Present penalties are a joke, and don’t work half the time. Nobody cares about credits, which is why people ragequit in pubs too, 1 min before losing a map.

Those MM ban penalties have no teeth: 30 min ban? thats one game in a sw pub! You leave a ranked game? No MM that session for you (at least 3h), you leave another game? enjoy 2+ days

@Jostabeere Knowing I’m not any official source, I got that 2,5h penalty for simply game booting me off in my first attempt of ranked due some wonky error message, and game refused to give me rejoin option despite multiple re-starts of the game. So it does work albeit involuntary crashing/disconnecting can occasionally result in nasty penalty. And holy quacamole if first penalty is already 2,5 hours I don’t want to catch the next one accidentally.

So in the end of the day, as anyone able to count 1+1 can see, the more we play ranked the less we’ll have quitters, since they’ll be the ones sitting with long penalties while the ones really wanting to play are queing normally. I could imagine (@RazielWarmonic perhaps confirm something about these?) longest penalties can result in a week even, since patchnotes did indicate they’re “harsher” now, afaik, and that picture with 72h penalty is from while back.

E: Looks like theres some high inconsistencies in penalties, error-kicked players getting hours of idle sitting from first time and quitters leisuring for 30mins and continuing their idiocy.

I’m almost cobalt myself… yes, I had bad games where people leave or we have only snipers, no medics but then… you need to carry the S#@! out of them… and frankly i like this update because 9 out of 10 games are nice and balanced. Queue times are fast and if you are actually polite to people they will play what you tell them to

For the weirdest of reasons some people think outright calling your team’s Aura a “fcking noob” when she hasn’t set her station yet, without first trying to requesting it, would somehow get something done for the situation. I had a situation where concept of cooldown was for some reason phenomenally alien for this one raging fella. I don’t lose my sleep over them, but holy molly is it annoying to explain every once in a while why I’m sticking to revives for short time period instead of serving their majestic whiney ass.

If you crash you wait 30 min and you’re good. You won’t crash frequently so you’ll never tier up.
Also there’s already the ability to reconnect.

Try queueing with a 5 man group and see how many of you get on the same team in the same match. ^.^

Also, nobody said matches like that won’t happen ever. You will fight out of your skill level sometimes. That is true with any ranked system. Are you both still Gold 2 and Elite?
