So, I played Brink.

I think it comes down to the fact that SD didn’t have the freedom of control they should’ve had to bring Brink to it’s true potential. I think there were too many cooks in this instance, and far too many cooks from Beth were lending a hand and spoiled the broth when it wasn’t needed. It was like SD were trying their best to make sure the PC side were catered for, but Beth wanted to make sure the console side were catered for… and somewhere in the scuffle both sides ended up getting the short end of the stick.

In all honesty I would have preferred that one side came out on top rather an all sides suffering… regardless if it was console or PC. I like SD, I’ve been here long enough and spoken to them for long enough on IRC for it to go beyond games and know they’re just a great bunch of people… and regardless of technical or design issues, they deserve to have a break. I think it shows that, for now at least, you need to concentrate on one platform to make sure at least one side gets a sweet game that plays awesome, so in the future we can all benefit from their success.

Evil-Doer; as much as I may have my gripes with Brink, I don’t think that’s SD’s wrongdoing. I’ve always seen them as being passionate gamers themselves, and having played with a few of them (and even reviewed old Jedi Outcast/Academy maps with one), I know that they really do care about what they create. It’s partially because of that, that I have trouble understanding what happened to Brink, really - though I suppose DAUK might be onto something.

SD spent years making this game. Its a brandnew orignal IP…of course they’re passionate about it.

However the market isn’t the same as it was when the first ET was made. Its the nature of business. And in the game industry it’s a sad story. SD reads their own forum; they made the game. They’re not blind to the problems, they just can’t publicly acknowledge them. You don’t think that bums them out?

Lay the blame on the publishers.

I think the xbox version is a pretty darn good game.

I agree, I played it on the 360 at my cousins, felt a lot better on the 360 than on my PC.
