aaa
So i just tried this game and...
Keep in mind that Dirty Bomb is not a traditional FPS game, so don’t expect to do as well as you’ve done in CoD or Battlefield.
i do realize its still beta BUT my experience is this
10+ minutes of syncing, loading, refreshing and 3 minutes of actual game play the shortest round EVER
players move at lightning speeds near to impossible to hit someone AND even if someone is standing still it takes 2 mags to get a kill WHILE i get killed in less than 1 second
graphic weapons etc… looks great
so some more experienced closed beta players might say GO HOME NOOB but i am not this is not my first multilayer fps EVEN in a Battlefield 4 where you CANNOT see OR know where your enemy’s are when you shoot someone even the biggest idiot can get a kill
ill be back in a year or two to see if it is possible to kill someone
What are you system specs? If your load times are legit that high then you have bigger issues than gameplay mechanics. If you are exaggerating(which is what I suspect) then you are being quite severe. DB isn’t like other FPS games you may have loads of experience in.
It certainly isn’t hard to kill/aim with enough practice. There are plenty of threads complaining that the TTK is too fast while others complain it is too slow. Depends on your perspective and personal skill.
A big part of Dirty Bomb is that weapons are pinpoint accurate. Which requires you to be good at tracking your target. Your crosshair always has to be within the enemy character model.
This is also why ADS isn’t a important part of this game because the weapons in this game are basically lasers with a few exceptions.
Other games like battlefield which you mention don’t require you to aim as well because weapons in those games have bullets that start to spread out as you fire which can give you a bit more leeway.
Today is the opening of the Open Beta and things on the backend that normally work pretty quickly and without issue are choking due to the high amount of concurrent players.
As for the rest, this game does not play like CoD or BF where it’s a game that allows you to shoot center mass and kill in 3-4 bullets. Those games typically don’t have gunfights and usually end up being whoever sees who first wins. In DB you have to shoot for heads. If you don’t you will die fast because your opponents will be doing that. You have to be able to track heads and you have to hit them. Give it time and you’ll get used to the speed and try not to treat this game like it’s similar to what you’ve played before.
Get some hours in, mess around with classes, mess around with wall jumps, remember to use your knife when you run (and gib downed enemies), try to do objectives and support your team and you’ll be just fine.
yes i agree every game is different BUT they really should think about new players
i am 30 years old and i play fps games a long time and i still find it hard to aim follow shoot and ultimately get a kill players are just moving ridiculously fast
Well the game is based of Enemy Territory and Brink, both extreme competitive games.
It wasn’t really design for new/casual players, it was design for competitive people.
All I can really tell you is to keep practicing, trust me once you get down the game mechanics, you will understand what we mean by different
On the plus side after you get down the mechanics, you will be even better at Battlefield.

Sounds like you just have more of an issue with tracking. In Battlefield, shooting is more focused around reaction time, with some emphasis on accuracy since the TTK is so short usually (about 1.5 seconds or less w/ 100% accuracy for body shots?). In DB, the TTK for body shots is a lot longer (2 - 5 seconds depending on the weapon and merc), and every weapon pretty much have to pin point accuracy even w/o ADSing, so more emphasis is put into tracking enemies. The reason why you are probably getting killed faster than this is probably because those guys were aiming for your head, which deals 2x damage.
If you wanna take a look at DB’s weapon stats, here’s a good spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yYDiX77THpjA-hImu2eRLio-ayOvGnDEeorZgHAieVQ/edit#gid=0

The game still feels slow to the proper fps like quake, wolf:ET.
Remember people! you’ll get used to the movement speed, you’ve learned a diffirent way of aiming, spotting movement, ID-ing that target, taking aim and countering recoil
In dirty bomb, the diffirent way the game runs, means you basicly have to relearn your basic FPS skillset
Keep at it, you’ll get the gun play down soon enough. I always like beginning with a support class like a medic to warm up to a game. The support class will allow you to learn the maps and figure out wth is going on while still gaining xp (and credits) and helping your team to victory.
The largest mistake new players make is the fact that they have been ingrained to aim down sights! big no go, a target is either moving or dead
I hadn’t played a game like this in probably ten years when I joined back in the stress test. I didn’t even know what to really expect when I joined. It took a while to get used to, and it was refreshing because I actually had to learn to aim ( a skill I never quite picked up playing CoD and Battlefield ). It was incredibly rewarding. If you stick with it, try to learn from your mistakes, and probably take advice if it’s offered, you’ll be rewarded too.
It’s very easy to get the impression things are overpowered in Dirty Bomb. I don’t think there’s a single class in the game - with the possible exception of Arty - who hasn’t been accused of being OP. But the game is actually pretty well balanced ( and gets better about every week ), it just comes down, in large part, to how you play it. At least that’s true for pub matches.
new players are to used to cod like games, this game is totaly different most people treat it as a tdm to. just get used to the speed keep playing and you will get the hang of it
you may have a tough time if you haven’t played fast pace heavy team based fps games
battlefield while yes team based game its no where near as fast pace nor do guns kill in 11/2 to 3 bullets like in COD people bullet sponge like crazy unless you aim for the head
this game i think requires a good sense of hand/eye coordination far more so than most i think.
you need to be moving alot staying put in 1 spot for long periods is a huge no no.
time your shots perfectly and no wasting ammo keeping an eye on objectives and the location of your enemy and teammates at all times sticking together is a must , if everybody is running around doing there own thing, well then a broken team formation is pretty much a loss every time.
kills don’t mean really anything at the end of the day, yes getting a lot can help but if its not pushing them back away from the objective so your teamates can get there safely and do the job they are assigned then its useless and your actually hurting more then helping.
those who have played the old school arena shooters will have a much better time adjusting rather than battlefield or COD players simply because of the speed and feel to the game.
its such a heavy team based game even 1 or 2 people not knowing what to do can really change the flow of the match making it frustrating for some.
totaly agree whit making it frustrating to play sometimes when people dont care about obj
