So, I Just Spent $20 on Dirty Bomb

(FireWorks) #61

as its written there: Just once, exactly once

“at least once” is the bonus if @laudatoryLunch manages to get the first one right

(Yes) #62

Depends, is it one coin flipped 10 times or 10 coins flipped once?
Depends, is it one coin flipped 10 times or 10 coins flipped once?

Please stop, reading all of this I don’t know if I should laugh or cry

(FireWorks) #64

Id go with crying or may I suggest a coin toss?

(Atherel) #65

What outcome would be more likely?

(FireWorks) #66

I think in the end, you gonna shed a tear from laughter! Especially if reality kicks in and the thing lands on the side

If you flip 3 coins 1 time each insdividually, how high is the percentage of getting heads on 1 coin twice? People think 10 cases are 1 coin flipped 10 times, which is wrong. It is 10 coins flipped 1 time individually. Therefor the chance of 50% remains for every coin.
Three coins flipped one time each has the exact same equally likely possibilities as one coin flipped three times. Is this English or Math?

To answer the bolded question, which is poorly worded. It is 0, because you can’t get 2 heads with a single flip.

If what you meant to ask was “How likely am I to flip at least 2 heads when flipping 3 coins 1 time each.” I would say I already answered this question above. There are 4 equally likely possible outcomes which contain at least 2 heads in the series. So it’s 4/8 or 1/2 which is 50%. If you wanted to know the probability of getting exactly 2 heads and 1 tail in any order it is 3/8 or 37.5%
Your formula is correct but doesn’t apply to Dirty Bomb cases. Each case is individual. That’s why I asked about 2 heads on a single coin. You open 1 box. The dice rolls for the box. End.

/facepalm

Now imagine you open 2 cases. Yea, yea we know, individual cases. Noone denies that.

You open 2 cases.
What is the overall chance to get 1 cobalt card?
What is the overall chance to get 2 cobalt cards?
And for training purpose: What is the overall chance to get 0 cobalt cards?

Common, you can do it!

This is great

(beigeTackle) #71

yeeeeeah…thats not how the math on those boxes works. each case has a 1 percent chance for a cobalt. Buying multiple does not mean you get a 100 percent chance. it means you have 100 1% random drop chances. it improves the odds but does not guarantee anything

(Szakalot) #72

its 0.1% drop rate for cobalt.

(FireWorks) #73

You know, people doing statistics and stochastic know that too! They found ways to calculate the overall chances…

Its just a bit too indepth knowledge for some of us here.

This thread totally derailed. @mods

Yeah, since we can’t get back on topic I’m going to close this thread. Sorry guys :frowning:
