So how, does Range work?

I have a lot of questions about Range that some of you may be able to answer.

  1. Is Range the distance at which your bullets begin to experience fall off, or the max distance they travel before finally reaching max fall off.

  2. Is there a min and max range, as in a minimal distance where fall off begins to occur, and a max where your damage done reaches it’s low?

  3. Is the damage drop off gradual, or could you make it a set amount, such as up to 15 meters, bullets do 100%, between 15 and 30 meters, bullets do exactly 15% less damage, and after 30 meters, bullets do 30% less damage?

I ask this stuff cause I am trying to figure out Range but could not find exact info, I was thinking some of you here might know.

  1. dunno
  2. Yes
  3. Its linear. Obviously they have to round damage up/down, dunno what they do

I’m not actually sure, because I still seem to be able to cross map plink people with the Stark on Chapel like there is no damage drop off.

I’m curious to know the answer myself tbh!

I don’t know for certain but I remember asking about it a long time ago (last summer maybe?) and I was given an answer that is pretty close to the following. I have no clue if it still works this way or was accurate in the first place however.

Example: MadeUpWeaponX fires a hitscan bullet. Up to 30 yards it does 15 points of damage to the target. 31 yards up to 40 yards it does 13 points of damage, 41 yards to 70 yards it does 12 points of damage and 71 yards and above it does 10 damage. 10 damage is the minimum damage that MadeUpWeaponX can do.

Ah good to hear, thanks a bunch

What confuses me about range though is that from a fairly long range I can still some times take down a Proxy with one clean shot of the Stark, where as from the same range a shot from the Dreiss (which apparently has a longer range?) doesn’t appear to do full damage.

Like to me it appears that the falloff damage between guns with different ranges feels off.

1 : pretty sure it’s supposed to be the range where the bullet begins to have fall off.
2 : yes, it’s a thing. I also remember seeing less damage inflicted over distance with a Simeon.
3 : err, gradual with minimum value ?

  1. First one is right. About the second part, you have to double the base range to know the least damaging max range.

For example : M4 has 26m range. damage drop off starts at 26m~ends at 52m, and least damage continues after 52m + range.

I have no idea of least damage of primary weapons since SD has only revealed the machine pistols at Feb Fine Tuning, but I’m quite sure minimum damage is half of your base damage.

So M4 might have 7 damage for minimum.

1~ 26m = 14 dmg

26~52m = 14~7dmg

52m~ = 7dmg all along

  1. Already explained at the top.

  2. This is the part I’m not sure how they calculate the drop offs.

May be it’s like range meter : damage ratio.

26m : 14dmg if M4.

Timik is 29m : 14dmg, so the drop off ratio is lower than M4.
