So how about that DLC?

It definitely looks like the DLC resurrected Brink’s player base :o

Yeah, it’s a sad sight, as this game has a ton of potential. It’s been on a constant downward plunge since I bought it during the free weekend. It peaked at something like 10,000 and has been on a steady downward spiral since then. These numbers being on a weekend is even worse, as that is when games usually peak in activity. In the end I kind of feel duped, as I thought this game had a decently large active community when I bought it. Now I I’m lucky if I can get into a server with a playable ping, the rest give a timed out error, which still hasn’t been fixed and reported by a lot of people. I guess I’m spoiled by companies like Valve, where if such a bug was present they would have a patch out the next day, if not that very day the bug presented itself. I’m going to give the game another week or two and see if the devs can do anything, then I will be uninstalling and going back to playing my usual games.

Despite the occasional stupid action, the bots are pretty decent IMO and make up for the fairly barren online community, if you don’t mind playing with them.

I was spoiled by Valve once. They released L4D and promised the Earth in updates and extras then decided after everyone bought the game that “these chumps will swallow any old bs” and instead released NOTHING promised and created a sequel in only a year leaving the first and best game… For dead.

So yeah. I loves me some Valves.

And I’m still bitter about it.

I think deep down we all knew that the DLC would only appeal to those who stayed and that the free weekend would only boost player count for a while. After that it was the same old story, people started leaving Brink for whatever reason and now the game’s back to it’s small Sub-1000 population. Shame.

Wow, that really hits home dude. I feel exactly the same way regarding that particular franchise.
And let’s not forget the horror that is the new cast. Eurgh…

This is ridiculous. We didn’t buy this game to play with bots. This game is in the low hundreds during weekend prime time. There are maybe 3 servers to play on in America, one of which is bugged and constantly times out. People were misled during the free weekend and spent money on something they literally cannot play.

Splash Damage needs to do something. Either drop the price permanently or make this game F2P so at least those of us that spent money on this product will be able to PLAY IT. It’s not like they will be selling any more copies after the poor reception, the least they can do is do right by us that trusted them and got burned.

Well I guess I’m in the minority then, because I bought this game primarily to play with bots. xD
Reason being: bots don’t cheat, whine, lag out or have entire teams of light + carb9ers.

I missed the free 2 weeks for DLC on ps3 by 3 days… the game now is definitely DEAD for me… goodbye brink u been fun for a few hours

(Shinigami) #9

Hey how much are they selling the DLC for?

(Nexolate) #10

$10, I believe they said.
Just checked Steam now, it says £7 for UK users.

Many like the OP have reveled in the demise of Brink from day one.
If only you could punch people in the mouth for real over the internet.
It would feel so good for sure.
Needed to be said.

for me it would be 12.45 SFr.- which is about 11? or 15 US $… that’s around 20% from what i paid for the game initially and i bought it day 1…

tbh i’m really disappointed by bethesda politics… i wanted to like the game, but it didn’t let me.
I was waiting for a fast-paced thing like this since UT2004. I got KZ3, Crysis2, cba to play either of them online… Brink on the other side had chances but yeah, whatever, not like that.

the “?” is meant to be an Euro sign… somehow ps3 is not letting me save changes

I just bought the game and found out that a week ago the DLC was FREE but now it costs an additional $10 on top of what I’ve already paid. Seriously angry. I’m seriously thinking about driving straight to the store and returning the game.

If you just bought the game, you paid less than half what I paid, AND you had a chance to get the free DLC while you were sitting on the fence. Please forgive me if I have zero sympathy for you.

Go ***** yourself.

I was on vacation in real life and away from games, etc, when the DLC came out, some people don’t spend 24/7 on internet game sites.

If SD wants people to adopt the game, they should make it as appealing as possible and stupid crap like extra content to an already thin game that was free but now costs is not going to convince many people to be late adopters or give this product a second look. It certainly isn’t going generate any positive word of mouth and of course if people do pick it up later it divides the fan base… and this isn’t COD there are not 50million players online.

So I’ll have zero sympathy for you when you’re playing this turkey alone because the company refuses to release a fully realized product and support its users.

tbh i’m seriously angry too… i would accept it being my fault that i missed grabbing it for free if they advertised in 50’000 places and for months AT WHAT TIME AND DATE THE DLC WAS GONNA BE UP FOR FREE.

(FragGen) #19

Fair enough. I’m grumpy, though to say the least. I’ll have to remember to reboot my sense of humor after lunch. I’m still on the fence about keeping the game now, though. I have a couple of days to decide. I seriously resent the thought of paying more for this game when it doesn’t seem to have much content.
