So having a napalm grenade explode in your face is pretty harmless hu?

Well even as a upgraded caltrop the AOE is pretty tiny, I think it should be made larger.

maybe some of you guys here could stand to think a little outside the box and realize not everything has to kill the enemy. maybe, just maybe the napalm grenade is supposed to be used to block an entrance as opposed to just flat out kill someone.

i want ride of the valkyries to play whenever i throw a napalm grenade. or maybe it would only trigger if there were at least 3 going at once.

Hey Tom#'s! Long time no see (MNC). You’re totally right it doesn’t have to kill the enemy any more that caltrops does. However, it fails at doing anything besides blocking what appears to be a tiny 4x4 square. Area denial appears to be the intent but the size of the fire is tiny it appears to be like the width and length of maybe a heavy character. I doubt it would even block any thing larger than a single doorway (I’ll mess with it more tonight). Also it’s duration is about 1/2 that of caltrops and it’s about 1/2 way through cool down when the fire disappears so it’s no where near as useful as caltrops while supposedly serving the same function. I don’t give a crap if the napalm nade kills someone on impact, but for both killing and area denial it’s underwhelming.

As someone else mentioned stacking these might be useful, but especially in comp where you’re limited to 5 players I’m not 100% about bringing more than one soldier (personal preference I suppose). This raises the whole issue of which game mode to balance the game around and that’s a debate in and of itself.

Like I said earlier though, I’ve only played with this nade for a few hours (10x on each of the new maps maybe) so I imagine I haven’t discovered every possible use yet.

to be clear, i like the napalm grenades, i was just surprised that they didnt also perform a knockdown (i’m not even sure they should, but i was expecting that they would)

On labs (res) throw at lower doorway where security guys file into the repair objective room on the bottom floor
wolf’s suggestion about sec tower.
any spot where you see the other team coming towards a chokepoint - slow up disrupt their push (sorta like caltrops this way - even if it doesnt do any damage, it disrupts their headlong charge)

If soldier didnt already have upgraded nades and this replaced rather than supplemented molotov, i might argue for changes…as it is, i’m gonna keep experimenting with them…
