So, consensus about the patch today? And has it even released for 360?

(pinksocking) #1

Title says it all. I know it released on the PS3 but I haven’t had time to boot it up and try it myself … however, lag has never been a MAJOR issue with me; there were times where I would repeatedly join lagging games. Been busy playing lol/terraria, the latter being stupid amounts of fun.

Has PS3 network connectivity improved?

and has it even released on the 360? I hear it wasn’t the the brink patch that was actually released on 360? this true?

TL;DR: TOPIC / I DIDN’T SEARCH FORUMS

The 360, as I’ve said elsewhere, is still laggy in some games. Seems pretty much the same to be honest, great when you find a good game and crap if you don’t.

(Wildkarrde) #5

Agree think it was more of a Demi-patch

PS3 and the lag is an issue in my case. Outside of competition mode, the game is unplayable for me and a few others on my FL.

Playing on playstation is still like playing in mud for me, and the rooms are still mostly empty.

UK ps3 player. :frowning:

There’s nowhere near enough players. There are about 10 peopel in total, and that’s trawling through all modes to find a decent match. The most i’ve had is 6. Even then it’s 50/50 it’s playable.
This game’s too late to salvage. If there aren’t enough players, what’s the point?

Yes the patch did release on the 360 in the US at least on Saturday. Not sure why people are confusing the patch with the system update. And yes for a lot of people it did improve things a great deal.

(wishface) #10

So this patch isn’t to fix the lag?

(solidus) #11

The patch was to address the lag. For me and some others it worked or at least improved things a lot from pre-patch. Although of course its maybe the case that some other people are still having issues especially depending on the region you are in and other factors.

(wishface) #12

A patch either works or it doesn’t. It’s software. Either things get fixed for everyone or there isnt any actual improvement and it’s just you perceiving something different to the reality.

(solidus) #13

You are wrong. The effect of a patch especially on peer to peer connections can vary based on your nat, your region and the people you are connecting to, your upload download ratio, etc. If you connect to a terrible host you are still going to get a laggy game. That wasn’t happening to me post patch.

The patch has indeed improved things on my end. I couldn’t play games without lag before and now I can. I entered many games yesterday and had acceptable lag in all of them. Which is the first time that has happened with the game since release. This doesn’t mean I had zero lag. It means I didn’t have the continual rubber banding lag and for the first time I could jump from game to game and actually play them. If you are still having issues that is unfortunate but that was not my experience yesterday at all and that was directly related to downloading the update.

I’m sure it may have improved things for some people. But, for the majority of people on my FL who play Brink on PS3, the lag plus not enough people to play against is enough to consider selling the game. And this is from players who were so hyped to play this game in the beginning.

(solidus) #15

I’m sure that is the case with a lot of people. It’s unfortunate the game was released in the state it was and there are still some issues that could be done to improve the experience like grouping the people who play together more frequently. For me I’m just happy I can actually play it now which wasn’t the case before.

(Wildkarrde) #16

Yep the patch may have improved the lag(40%better)but it certainly didn’t do enough and with no auto balance and lobby, combined with as much as 30secs to actually change teams, I’m really thinking the last patch was much to little and far to late. I will keep game to see the DLC but has got to be staggeringly excellent to boost my opinion of SD to any degree. And I can’t really see them making a kick ass DLC ,from what I’ve seen from their handling of brink.
And yes I want to like the game else I wouldn’t still have it or post on the forums but I feel ripped off. so please please fanboys don’t have a go,
Under different circumstances
I’d be one of you.

Patch either works for everyone or it doesnt. I’m not really itnerested in excuses made by apologists for shysters like Bethesda and SD anymore. If this poor excuse for a fix is what they consder enough then they really haven’t a clue. This game should have been recalled and removed from the shelves.

(Tear 08) #18

Well, the Lag got reduced for me, but that damn Texture thing is still just as bad, and I’ve had the game Installed since day one, and even un-installed and re-installed it a couple of times…it’s not too much of a problem for me, it’s just something I’m surprised isn’t fixed, I mean in an Online Match fair enough, but I’ve played plenty of Single Player games where the Textures are just damn terrible at loading in…most noticeable in Container City…

They said this patch was only to fix network performance.

Yes because everyone has exactly the same connection and network hardware, and lives in the same region with the same ping to everybody else.
