Snow Inside Building ?

(Kim Carson) #1

Hello to all,

First a thank you for the great forums.
And a BIG thank you to all you dedicated members.
Also thanks for a great game which i think W:ET actually is.

I (still) like to play with building blocks.
Making your own ET map sounded great so …

I started to make a small map with GtkRadiant.
Outside it’s snowing like i put in ‘atmospheric effects’.
And like the topic title says : it snows inside too !
:o
With rain it is the same : it rains inside the building.
Here is a screenshot :

snow inside

I (must) have forgotten something ?
How can one solve this ?
Thanks in advance.

Greetings Kim

A missing tracemap / commandmap might be the problem.

You are right nUllSkillZ.

open console and type
/developer 1
/generateTracemap
/developer 0

A restart to ET might be needed aswell.

Yes yes yes …

You’re both right…
Always generate a tracemap.
I had one …
But… when one modifies the map after … you’ve to generate a new one !
So i’ve generated a fresh tracemap and … it stopped snowing completely … right away !
A restart of W:ET and voila : nomore snow inside the building(s).
Only snow outside --> SOLVED.
W000t !
Thank you for the lesson !
Thank you guys so much !
You’ve made my day… and night.

normally you just make your map and when it’s finished you generate the tracemap, while you are still updating it 24/7 there is no point generating a tracemap everytime

Hi stealth6

Yes, well …
Like nUllSkillZ & Pegazus
You’re right.
Off course.
That’s really the best way to do it.

But hey …
I’m a mapping newbie.
When i started my small map in W:ET.
I saw the console nagging about the tracemap.
So i generated a tracemap, with help from Splash forum.
And then i went on editing the map.
Then i saved, compiled and ran the (new) map again :

… oops, it snows inside the building(s) !

Then, i realized afterwards, after my post here.
The tracemap i have now is : ‘old’.
I had to generate one again to update the map with the tracemap.

Affirmative !
All clear !
