SNITCH Devices are Hella Hard to Spot

(SzGamer227) #1

Unless you happen to see one as it’s flying through the air (and survive long enough to see it land and destroy it), these buggers are ridiculously hard to find and destroy, and since finding and destroying it requires you to hide in its line of sight, you’ll be spotted and vulnerable to enemy fire the whole time as you duck helplessly trying to scan the surrounding area for a small dark node that is unrestrained by the confines of gravity and has no special visual indication of its whereabouts.

At the very least, they should have the same colored blinking indicator lights as Heartbeat Sensors (because shooting a friendly SNITCH is also annoying and a waste of ammo). Being able to stick it to walls and ceilings and high up places already makes them a challenge to spot, so its not like having them blink would make them useless or whatnot.

Anyone else think SNITCH devices should be made more visible?

I recently played with @Sniff who bought Aimee when she came out for a small try. Pretty nice merc IMO. She does not feel especially unfair, but I have to admit that I couldn’t even find the snitch device even once, while most deployables can actually be kinda obvious.

However, I am actually wondering if it’s better like that. The fact that the snitch device is hard to see actually give to Aimee a bit more viability, so the snitch device can be used like an effective distraction. Enemies weakened by the snitch device might hesitate about going forward, which is a good thing. That would probably make Aimee as interesting as Red Eye is despite her low hp (and low hp is far from being an advantage in competition).

There is an augment which does not get much use, bomb squad. Shows you exactly where it is in a big red circle. Impossible to miss.

I love bomb squad. However, if you don’t have it it can be almost impossible to find them since they can be on literally any surface. Most deployables will be on the ground. Sticky bombs can be on walls but usually they are never higher than head height. Any higher than that you really don’t need to worry about them. Bit the range and arc of the SNITCH is gigantic it seems. It seems like it’s range is equivalent to the range of detection for the turret.

just run behind a wall
easy aimee counter

Thankfully, all of the mercs I use have Bomb Squad on the cards I usually use. No SNITCH problems for me!

I don’t usually have a problem finding them. Pretty noticeable thing IMO. I think making visible with a blinking light might make her ability a lot less useful if enemies are able to almost instantly find and kill it.

The Aimee’s I e come across put them in crafty places. There’s been a few times where I just couldn’t find the bloody thing

(Dawnlazy) #9

Think about where you’d throw it from her perspective.

(AnonOmis1000) #10

I do. Still can’t find the damned thing

(derpyMoonMoon) #11

My biggest problem with it is that it doesn’t show the red glow that most deployables show. If it was a bit more visible, it would be fine, but the way it is now, it blends in too well.

I’ve just found this on Reddit : https://www.reddit.com/r/Dirtybomb/comments/4dytjd/is_snitchs_vertical_range_longer_than_its/

This might be the reason why a lot of us struggle to find the device.

(Vaasref) #13

It has antigrav, I don’t see any problem to give it either horizontal or vertical infinite range.

IF it float to it’s target slower so I can shoot it while.

Anyway for now the red trace stops way to early. If I fight a Aimee I can’t sacrifice myself to destroy it since i still need to look for it even if I was in the room when Aimee tossed it.

Once people get used to them and learn the crafty hiding places it won’t be so bad. With a glow or blinking light and its gigantic CD it would be useless.

Once i get debilitated i just hide because im not a dipshit and i dont want to take god only knows how many more damage and after that bomb squad or not it always took me max 5 seconds to spot the thing. You must be blind as fuck or i dont know. Dont forget to look up thats where it usually is people dont look up so thats where i put it when i play Aimée.
And if you really cant do take bomb squad loadout. Dont start to ask for unnecessary nerf just to be hold by the hand in the game

It deals damage wwhen you get debilitated just look where the damage comes from thats no different than when you get shot.

Well just take another path then its not like if DB had linear map with only one way to go.

You are just asking for a nerf to be able to see it BEFORE getting zapped sorry but no. This would make it useless, There is bomb squad precisely for that and the thing has a red streak when it flies. It doesnt need anything more.

On top of that you are not used yet the merc is like out since a week just wait a bit before crying for a nerf in some time youll start to get all the classic position.

Its like when you start playing you take all the mines in your face but after a few level you know where most proxy mines have a chance to be this is the same here.

There is no need for a nerf. God. People like you asking for nerf right out of release are weakening the merc like it happened to Thunder. The meta is changing you need to get used dont immediatly start crying and asking for nerf

(banteringTurnip) #16

When I get pinged by it , I stop right click to ADS and do a 360 sweep 99.9% success rate

If its like the .01% chance I can’t I just go to to heals or hide.

(Mrarauzz) #17

The range is short and as soon as you get spotted you know how close it is. Tbh even without bombsquad its not hard to deduce where it came from.

For the first time Bomb Squad makes sense on sniper loadouts.
As Confucius said: detect, protect, remain erect.
