sniping / mouse sensitivity

(rumblepit) #1

im a big fan of sniping in fps games, and i find the sniping in brink to be rather limited with options of what you can do in game. is there anyway to increase the mouse sensitivity while sniping? i dont like to just camp and shoot targets standing still. im more of a get them on the run kind of guy. no scoping,is this working as intended? i was standing in front of a wall doing test and both guns are always off by 1ft from 10ft away,to the left and right.

(thesuzukimethod) #2

which both guns are you talking about?

also, in b4 the (inevitable) lotto comment

(Zanchile) #3

presumably the barnett and dragnuv

(thesuzukimethod) #4

wasn’t sure b/c the barnett doesn’t seem to work as a “get them on the run” type of gun (there’s also rokstedi, and sea eagle/ritchie (all have sortof sniper capability).

also wasn’t sure b/c i find the dragnov to be relatively accurate from a distance, even while somewhat on the move, def not 1 foot off for every 10 feet away…

(rumblepit) #5

yes the barnett and the dragnuv

i was talking about no scoping , stand 10ft away from a wall shoot and it will be off by 1ft to the left or right .

ahh, that makes sense then…
barnett and drognov both have significant bonuses to scoping (or penalties to not, depende on how you look at it)

these are pre-pc patch stats

but should help explain the spread.

What’s the point of sniping if you are going to run around, “noscoping”. You are supposed to aim and be a recon role. It kind of defeats the purpose

(thesuzukimethod) #9

i would say try the rok and the seagle…they are pretty good run and gun “sniping” options.

It feels like when you hip fire you have a certain mouse sensitivity then when you zoom you get less mouse sensitivity for any weapon wich kinda sux. Hope they fix this in some future patch.

(FireWorks) #11

The option for a separate sensitivity is still locked, but should be released in a further patch. But this might take a while.

Hip sniping wont work. Quick scoping does! So press scope and fire together and you should be able to flickshot quite nicely.

Looking forward to seeing you on a server because Im sick of all the camping snipers with their tent. Dynamic snipers would be welcome though

You might want to search the forum or brinkwiki for further info about the sniping damage, but it boils down to need the tier2 engineer buff to be a real killer.

(Smoochy) #12

you need to scope else people use snipers as instagib weapons. IRL you wouldnt stand a chance at hipfiring a sniper rifle.

if you are a sniper why not get a mouse with DPI switches on? i can set mine up for 3 speeds and flick a button on the mouse to flick between them. i must admit ive never really used it to much affect as i dont like sniping.

(rumblepit) #13

Quick scoping, and a mouse with a DPI switch are things i will be trying out. thank you for the tips.

im not looking to run around and 1 shot people while no scoping . i know how to play team base fps games and if your in a pug, camping 100 yards away with a sniper rifle ,and you cant communicate with your team, your as useless as a poop flavored lolly pop. i would rather be on point ,and help my team defend but with the settings the way they are it makes very hard to cover your team or the point of interest.

If you haven’t yet, you should check out the rokstedi. it’s a nice balance between AR mobility and sniper damage. the Rok plus whatever scope works best for you (i would say not the COGA given the limits it places on peripheral vision) can be a pretty substantial beast in terms of a more mid range snipe style game (e.g. being a team player sniper)…and it has a much lower penalty for not using ADS, and comes close to the accuracy of the sniper rifles when you do ADS.

plus if you add an USGL you have a pretty nasty weapon for defending HE charges, hackboxes, etc.

You can also bind a button for switching senses:

bind x "cycle [cvar name][beginning value][ending value][increment (optional)]"

So this would be:
bind x “cycle Sensitivity 4 5 0.5”
