Snipers - Full accuracy when jumping and the heartbeat sensors

#1

Hello!

With this thread I would like to write about the sniper.
In general snipers are very balanced.
But there are two things I would like to suggest.

  1. The full accuracy when jumping

Probably everyone knows this. If a sniper jumps the accuracy remains.
This makes no sense and I definitely suggest that this gets changed.

  1. The heartbeat sensors

These little, meany things called heartbeat sensors. In my opinion they should be more visible.
I don’t know about you but I can never find these sensors detecting me the whole time.
They can even locate you through walls making it just impossible in finding them.

This was it for now. Thanks for reading.

  1. Have you ever tried sniping while jumping? Have you ever tried to consistently hit peoples heads with scope sway and constant up and down swing while they dash out and change directions?

  2. They are flashing … literally … and they disappear after time. Finding them straight away would render them completly useless.

No, I haven’t tried sniping yet.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I am pretty sure the accuracy remains.

Nevermind about the sensors, I thought you could stick them on walls too.

The sniper doesn’t have a spread while jumping, why would it? there is a scope sway non the less and the jumping together makes it a really hard thing to pull off. You should really look up some thing before judging.

I’m still fairly new to DB so I don’t know everything yet.
But I guess that’s why a forum is there, to clear up misconceptions.

Thanks for helping.

If anything jumping should force you to unzoom, just like it is in TF2

I agree that jump sniping is really dumb. And yes I’ve jump sniped. Its incredibly easy and doesn’t make sense for a sniper.

Jump sniping doesn’t make sense eh? The entire premise/storyline of the game doesn’t make any logical sense. What about a giant laser air dick coming from the sky to melt your face off? And grenades that call an artillery strike? Or…double jumps and wall jumps? Or reviving people? Or a minigun with unlimited ammo? Or health stations?

This isn’t Battlefield, or CS:GO, or Call Of Duty or Team Fortress 2 or any other game. This game is called Dirty Bomb in case ya’all forgot. Asking for features to be changed so that it plays more like those games, makes it not Dirty Bomb anymore. Duh?

If you’re gonna complain and moan and whine, do it about sh!t that’s relevant and in context…otherwise you’re just a tool with a loud mouth.

Instead of complaining…get good enough that you don’t have to.

I see your point and you are right for sure.

But this thread wasn’t made to complain, it was made to suggest two minor tweaks.
Now that I know of the sway, I don’t find them important anymore.

Zeus, I’m not talking about from a logical viewpoint, I mean from a game play viewpoint.

There’s this phenomena called Quick Scoping that I know you are perfectly aware of and how it, when coupled with perfectly accurate crosshairs and perfect information on your enemy’s wearabouts can create a situation in which the player has no opportunity to respond before being killed in a single shot.

There’s a reason why games like Battlefield and CoD make sniper rifles extremely inaccurate while on the move, otherwise you get a situation where a Sniper is camping behind a fence and jumpshotting everyone who trips his motion detector.

If the sniper rifle’s accuracy is reliable enough while jumping/running/sprinting, then a player who’s practiced now has a strategy that cannot be reliably countered to utterly dominate than to overwhelm him with numbers – which doesn’t work with Dirty Bomb’s small team size.

Nix it in the bud.

This is the crudest description of a Orbital Laser I’ve ever encountered.

Jump sniping is fine. This game is SUPPOSED to have super clutch moments like that. The spread is the same yes, but the scope sway is pretty brutal. I can do it…infrequently on Terminal. I love bouncing off the containment wall and nailing people.

(watsyurdeal) #15

Personally I don’t think jump scoping should be a thing, primarily because it creates an unfair fight, where the Sniper can keeping making potshots without exposing himself.

(Sir_Slam) #16

And Fragger can blow an entire room away with about as much exposure. Just pull, cook and peek. Same with Nader to a lesser extent if she’s good with bouncing them off of walls Demoman style. And Arty can use props to drop strikes on high traffic points without being exposed. Kinda par for the course really.

Besides, you know what makes a sniper thats jumping around like an idiot look bad? A counter sniper. You can only pull off a trick like that so many times in a match before any decent player is going to catch on. Do it too often and youll end up jumping right into another sniper’s crosshairs.

(watsyurdeal) #17

The difference is cooldowns, Vasilli can insta gib on headshot , and soon just insta down, and not only that it’s hitscan, there’s no windup or prediction needed, just good aim.

Vasilli should have to expose himself if he wants to take a shot, that’s why he has sway as well.

This is a fast paced game and in games like this that I’ve played the sniper is by far the worst class and least used when they add too many variables and restrict movement. Vassili is viable now because he can be so mobile and not just do the 50/50 peeking. It also adds more skill to the class as you’ll soon learn to use walls and other areas as a means of being able to hit shots while reducing your chances of being counter-sniped. However, the one thing people are forgetting is that a Vassili player who does this can’t see the field very well and can be easily flanked. You basically give yourself more safety against other snipers or people who know how to ADS an M4/LMG but you lose some accuracy as it’s harder to hit those shots and you are open to being flanked easier if the HBS is spotted.

I know some people want to walk out 1 step and then go back to cover like you do in so many other games. But it doesn’t work very well in a game that is DB’s speed and it’s, honestly, really really boring. So few play like this though it’s mostly a non-issue on pubs.

I think @Myself_Deal_with_it does not realize this thread is over four months old and necroing this was completely useless.

At that point of time I was not as experienced as I am now.
My opinion has changed.

Please lock the thread. @Faraleth
