I’d guess everyone who had played from the beginning knows that this game has never been a sniper game.
Some of my old mates (ET/RtCW players) had been kicked from some servers for very good infight skills due to Q-style games-experience when the game was new and back in the days a 1vs1 situation (with the best) was a question of a few HP or so…
Now, or should I say since a few month before PB was dead, this game has suddenly become a sniper game beside some other fishy things…
The sniper issue is really special:
- no weapon-spread on distance anymore
- one shot kills @125HP (can’t remember this …in all the years I’ve had always at least 5 HP after got hit…
- 2 shots in less then 0,2 sec.
- unbelivable aim in infight situation
Years ago people had complained about the sniper rifle and how bad it was in comparision to other games (too less damage etc)
Now and suddenly the game is full of hardcore-ownage snipers (with low rank for sure)
Strange! and it’s an issue since the game isn’t cheat protected anymore
but well, game was awesome for many years and still rocks with the right people …
let’s think positive and keep a look in the future…
So when was the release date for the free to play RtCW-MP-browser game again 
still waiting …lol

hmmh… i used to hate sniping in this game and not really tried it ´til last year, coz i got bored with the usual classes i used. ive also noticed a lot of hardcore-ownage snipers with low ranks, but i´m pretty sure these ppl are not new to the game, but more oldschool players that just try to have some fun, which is totally ok imo.
after playing this game for what now 4 years + ? it gets tiring to just do objectives and be a good teamplayer, so there is nothing wrong with the occasional ego-trip at sniping. its just annoying for some i guess, when one gets owned by amazing headshots from some no-name low ranked player, however like i said above, i´ve noticed some old players returning to qw, just under different names, so it explains the low rank but high skills.
i dont think there is any other reason tbh.

Fakes here or not, I am totally sure most quick shooters with sniper rifles use macros. It is just 5 minutes to do such a macro at least in logitech mouseware. Here I agree with Oko, the change of trend was obvious several months ago. The same goes to unhittable people. Net cvar-based macros using the same mouseware, e.g. while crouching or jumping or simply under enemy fire by a separate button, causing the person to lag/be unreg, are on my opinion as widespread and easy to get as pr0n on the net. The funny thing, even clanmates are unaware about what the others are in fact using - this is kept really confidential. So all comments by some people such as “I swear/100% sure/can prove/etc./misc. blabla that none of my mates are using this crap” are just simply lol and have to be ignored. Still ETQW is fun enough even with those retards using these things, especially when they rage while you frag them against all odds.

Yeh, thats always nice. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside
I’ve also noticed that the number of “sniper heroes” go up since pb support has been lost. The only way i can support (if thats what i can call it?) that i don’t use a script is that you all must of seen me drop a nade when attempting to quickshot. But make of it what you will.

@ ashog: im not saying i doubt anyone uses it, however etqw has always been a game with less cheaters than any other shooter i know, correct me if im wrong. ofc now that there isnt any pb support anymore, there might be an increase of things that i have no clue about, but tbh i personally really dont care, if ppl are silly enough to use some kind of advantage over others in any form, in a game that has no real comp scene anymore and is years old ( i wont use the “dead” word, no i wont) then i find that amusing. but the solid base of players in this game has always been smarter than in some other games i wont mention here, so imo there is not a significant amount of players using these advantages.

i didnt read the whole thread, but when i joined aero rubben gave a macro so i dont need w8 so long to shoot again with sniper, he told me to use when i play and said everyone do so and its completly ok

yeah sometimes with those unhitable ppl the game feels somehow scripted or something
I don’t get it … they can’t be hit when moving to the MCP or whatever
all I can say is that I haven’t seen a sniper with >50 kills in all the years … it’s an issue since PB is dead …
maybe no one cheats and my hardware has become too old for gaming (me too btw;))
all the gamers may have very good hardware now and that is /always was/ a huge advantage …
I don’t know what this all + skill can do with this TECH4 engine + consolish netcode
