Sniper Lag

(MercifuL) #1

Anyone else experience delay or lag when shooting a sniper rifle, ive noticed this issue a long time ago but I thought it was just connection, can anyone confirm that this is not a bug or an in game issue.

Did you try aiming?

You have to keep in mind this isn’t CoD styled sniping. If you are running around trying to QS, then you will NEVER get a kill. Just to make sure. You are in a safe place, and taking your time to shoot the head, right?

Do you really think I am that stupid, I always aim and the sniper bullet feels like it shoots to slow and the enemy moves away and the bullet doesnt come out at the right time. It doesnt happen all the time but it is pretty frequent.

If you mean the hit being delayed then yes, but it happens to me with any weapon. But not consistently, like one in 20 kills maybe.

(MercifuL) #5

Yeah thats what I mean, it happens to all guns but it has the most affect when your using a sniper. Exactly not that frequent but it would generally happen a few times in a game, maybye 5-10.

Make sure to watch at 60fps and slow down to 0.5 or 0.25. This what you talking about?

Not necessarily hit delay, but mostly the shooting delay. I aim and try to get the best shot and as soon as I shoot it delays it and the enemy moves away and unintentionally dodges the bullet. But hit reg also a problem.

(Ghosthree3) #8

Not sure about that one, video? Don’t understand? You mean your game client is lagging the inputs?

(MercifuL) #9

The video is fine as it is, it does address half of the issue. Possibly that might be the case.

I think if you hit LMB at a specific time, near the end of reloading, your character will fire the gun, as soon as possible, giving the impression that you shot with a delay.
I don’t think there’s more to it.
I get that delayed hitreg thing from Ghosthree3’s video sometimes, too, but it’s a different dealio.

Dunno, this happens to me like all the time. No matter how or when I shoot also sometimes + lag which makes it even worse as well as the bad hit detection which made me take a break from Vassili.

I do also notice the sniper rifles in DB specifically seem to feel kind of sluggish… There does appear to be some delay between when I fire and where the bullet goes. I know this shouldn’t be the case since its a hit scan weapon, but I don’t notice this issue with any other weapon, just the sniper rifles.

What I experience happens mostly against other snipers. I aim and shoot to the head, setting off that “Dink” sound that you can enable in the options to let you know when you hit the head. Although I still die because he had shot me first apparently. That kinda lag pisses me off.

That’s going to happen with any game that uses any form of rollback based antilag. It happens in fighting games that use rollback netcode but the positives tend to far outweigh the negatives as a much larger portion of the playerbase can compete against each other.

Happens cause of ping, and the delay should be fairly equal to your ping. You shoot him, send the message to the server, server kills him and sends that message back to you, when you get it he dies on your screen.

(Ghosthree3) #16

I know how it works, I’m not an idiot. These were select kills in 20-40 ping servers where 99% of the kills I had were instant response. I didn’t just record a video of me on a high ping server, jesus christ.

well when sniping u are trying to find the 1 correct pixel. with that in mind, when u are about to fire the sniper tons of things can go ‘‘wrong’’

  1. ping delay
  2. enemy is moving
  3. u are moving
  4. your hand was moved slightly
  5. bullet travels fast, but also think of distance that u have from the enemy
  6. u had more packet loss than the enemy (or the opposite)
  7. better-higher monitor Hz better sniping
  8. server tick rate

so u have to try your best, and hope the server does his job…
personally at dirty bomb so far i’ve seen ‘‘kill delay’’ 4-5 times but we had 5 players there with more than 100 ping

Meanwhile in search for the pixel…
