Very unrealistic but still the most effective and less intrusive measure so I’m for this.

Hmm okay, but I suspect this would be pretty irritating. Like playing those flash browser games a-la try to slap this moving ant on the screen (an it is almost impossible because the programm moves the ant away from the mouse pointer).
Tried some sniping again today, it feels fine.
There is a small movement, but it’s only just enough to take you away from a direct headshot, very easy to correct and completely unnoticable if you’re aiming at a moving target whilst strafing and comprensating for both of those at the same time anyway.
Added to the very slight delay for perfect spread and I am really liking this as a counter to quick-scope headshots.
If anything the sniper is more fun to play in recent builds than previously.
How about the scope pulling up off-center if scoping right out of sprint or a jump? That’s definitely a key part of close range sniping.
All in all, I would really like 2 zoom levels.
i vote for “No Hold Breath Control !” too. its very useless and destroys the fast gameplay -> it makes aiming too random and poeple start camping. and please NO! crosshair-jumping after every shot. it makes aiming too random and destroys the feeling.

+1. I’m not a fan of hold breath control either. Other than that, the bolty feels perfect. I hope SD won’t screw it/ nerf it, after some of us master the weapon. 
with 4 levels of zoom youd be able to shoot a button off in DB. but the extra zooms are a pain cycling through them.
2 zoom levels is adequate i think.
I went with No because currently it seems not necessary - I’m not good with the sniper by any means but aiming with/without the hold breathe doesn’t seem to have much benefit from my small experience when I play around with it.
I’m a bit torn on the matter since I enjoy playing with and without breath control. As for DB sniping, with the current direction of the game I think I would prefer it without the control.
For me, the sniper is ok. I’ve noticed a few delayed shots where my shot actually goes off about 0,5-1s after my mouseclick but that could easily be related to network issues.
Not a fan of the multiple zoom levels though, 1 slightly reduced zoom level and the DB sniper would be great.
I don’t get the aversion to quick scoping and ninja style close range sniping. This is the most interesting and demanding way to play a sniper. 99% of every ranged, camping sniper in pretty much every online fps I’ve played would be more use to their team running at the enemy, jumping and shooting in the air. At least then they’d be a comedy distraction. To see arcady sniping down right look to TF2 - it’s pretty much perfect.
Bump- playing covey last night i did not enjoy it. the hold breath is still fiddley so i just ran around and used it as a shottie. much more fun.
Levels being so small and easy to be flanked also doesn’t help a sniper. couldn’t wait to switch to something actually useful to the team.
So true, since there are so many ET veterans im surprised that still some people like hold breath. Then we can also introduce a hold breath button for every weapon to be realistic, and would be just fair for everyone. Gentlemen its simple. Remove hold breath mechanic, because you can already shoot without it pretty good. I mean a sniper is supposed to be capable of taking a placed shot. In the game, you are playing a extra class for using a sniper -> no breath control because he is trained for that. Why on earth, can the other classes hold their weapon steady, but not the sniper lol.
Its like having a additional button beside crouch button, to crouch even more, a button beside sprint button to sprint even more.
We press right mouse button to aim, and shift to aim even more. Why cant we have a magical “even more” button for everything?^^ Change weapon… even more^^
With that being said, this is a game mechanic this game dont really needs. Since there is so less recoil, not really noticable for weapons, but having on the other hand a hold breath button for sniper in order to be realistic does not match.
Also ppl will go with it and accept it and insta pressing shift all the time, or they wont and help themselves out with a macro.
was just thinking the same thing, but forgot to write it. Why does covey get this but no-one else. Because its a copied mechanic from a single player game.

the extra button to fire is a pain. ain’t nobody got time for that.
I think the breath holding is a bit pointless to alleviate the quick scoping issue, because good players will do it regardless of an additional key press and that’s being demonstrated fully by countless CoD fragmovies. Other penalties might provide a better help with that tbh, like the damage build-up while scoped, increased spread, etc. Initial blur might also help, tho in ETQW it certainly helped the megatexture paging system while also doubling as a quickscope penalty xD.
I personally got used to that key, tho I’m a terrible sniper but given more time, one can come to some sort of decent coordination. I still would like to see how it works without it, for the same concern as the rest of the ppl, which is that feeling of added “clunkyness” to the movement. This is also a bit of a problem because if SD gives us a build to test without the breath holding, I bet the amount of human aimbotting will be pretty much the same :), so in the end it’s just a matter of getting used to the system rather than it enforcing constraints on the player.
as long there wont be one-body shots its fine, this system is not required. I think its already hard enough shooting ppl with a decent movement + limit the amount of sniper on a server would be also an alternative
Edit: for me another reason to never touch the sniper class in any fps, only fps i play with a sniper is cs^^ cause my skill isnt enhanced enough nor i want to put time in this weapon, which isnt allround enough^^ i think its also good to encourage movement with covertops, since pub players tend to camp with sniper the exact spot and ppl are likely to imitate this preventing to run in line of fire again, and paying it back to other players. Im sure there are undeniable facts which can prove this to a certain point. Most common thought process -> beat ppl with their own weapons.
