Sniper 1-hit-kill?

(DarkSlayer54) #1

I’ve searched the forums and tried google, but all I could find was that it wouldn’t be a 1-hit-kill (it never specified where or of what body type, but I’m assuming it’s talking about the general body area).
Does anyone know if the bolt-action rifle will be a 1-hit-kill to the head of a light body type?

Its one hit kill on a light unbuffed bodytype with a headshot.

Alright, that seems fair.
Thanks.

Its a one hit down. Incap not dead.

(DarkSlayer54) #5

Wait, so if you get an enemy “down”, it won’t count as a kill?

(Nail) #6

no k/d, so it doesn’t really matter, you get xp per hit

Incap simply means they can be revived. However, XP is tabulated based on damage done, not in the COD “+100/kill” style.

and killing an incap player with a melee gives exp, killing with guns doesn’t.

although I don’t understand why you would want to be using a sniper class to begin with. It complements no class well, and really won’t effectively help with objectives (possibly defensive, but still), not does it seem like it woud yeild a steady income of XP. I can maybe understand using it every once in a while though, just as a matter of variety.

I’ve taken a liking to Snipers recently. I’m not sure I’ll like it in Brink… only time will tell, but it’s interesting that there’s no k/d in it.
I think I like this aspect. It will remove the chance of someone stealing your kills, and instead you’ll have to focus on causing enemy damage or doing objectives.

i remember someone who played at pax saying that headshooting a medium would also incapacitate him, but maybe the medium wasn’t at full HP so idk, guess we’ll find out in 2 weeks

and i like sniping so i’ll give the short rifle a try, if it turns out to be useless (which i doubt since i believe SD wouldn’t have included it if that was the case) i’ll probably switch to something else

I haven’t watched any footage of it, but I’m guessing you will have to use it like a marksman rifle

maybe he just likes bolt action rifles, my friends still don’t understand why i use a SVU with a red dot in Bad Company 2 “BECAUSE SEMI AUTO IS SEXY”

(Linsolv) #14

Because it’s a secondary weapon on Mediums.

(Shadowcat) #15

I will most likely use the Long Rifles more often on a Medium character than a Light character. If its your main weapon, SMGs seem like they will keep you alive in a lot more situations than the Long Rifles will.

(Linsolv) #16

Exactly my thoughts. With a Rhett in the primary slot, I can afford to use the Long Rifle at COGA ranges and the Rhett at RDS ranges. Even though I’ll have a COGA on that thing too.

Engineer. Buff your rifle, set up a Gatling turret, and go to work. Even if if your shot doesn’t kill them in one hit, the gatling turret will sure clean them up. I plan to whore this out extensively on defense.

(H0RSE) #18

And I plant to toss many a EMP grenades at your turret.

(Chili Squirts) #19

Go ahead. I’ll pick you off while you’re distracted, and if you some how manage to get through, I always have my AR/Grenade launcher/Machine Gun to take you out. As long as I have the pips I’ll just put the turret up again. A good engineer is a force to be reckoned with.
