Small change to Bushwacker (Show Range of Turret)

(mendaciousPole) #1

Just wanted to put this opinion out there. I’d love to be able to see where my turret could shoot. How far and how wide. I’d like to see a interface similar to the one in TF2, where the engineer can see the range of his turret before he places it down.

Even more so, how would more game-mechanic wizardly peeps think of ability to turn around the turret? Setting them in a corner is a pain as of now. Haven’t tried a buttonsmashspam yet so dunno if there is actually a way to turn it around while placing.

But definitely a range-check would be sweet, essential even, specifically as since free-merc rotation is imo a great way to show players how specific abilities work and what are their cons/pros, even if they don’t own said merc. This addition would definitely aid in that cause and wouldn’t seem to break anything.

I have noticed that during this free rotation, Rhinos have become a lot less threatening.

Exactly, and I find much more neat to actually play matches where I’m not only one of the 2 people in a 8 man team actually destroying a heartbeat sensor when seeing one.

Also haven’t seen a single “turret OP volvo fox” type of whining after bush came to rotation either. Now we’d just need this little tweak you suggested to take the most out of this rotation :wink:

this would be nice along with coolfortress’s idea of being able to rotate the turret before placing it like engie in tf2

I’d imagine they don’t allow turret rotation as a balancing issue. Right now the best way to remove a turret is to come up behind it or from the sides. If it’s sitting in a corner, you can’t do that.

@Yak

We’re talking about rotating it as you place it down. The turret would still have the same range, but you’d be able to turn it around to face you when placing it down.

I think too there is balance thought behind this, after all as you said now turret cannot sit so far in the corner. Though it still can be placed into corners where you can’t efficently get behind it. However even if it was balls-to-the-walls deep in corner, it’d be somewhat easier to grenade into oblivion. Not that said action wouldn’t be good enough now.

More importantly here, the range-check would be sweet. Although game trailer does tell us “this game isn’t gonna hold your hand, but rather knock your teeth out” :smiley: Still after all, I wouldn’t mind lack of this kind of a stuff if there was way to create local offline / even friends-only session for testing out things in peace’n’quiet. Gunnae know all the details!
