hello,
i am thinking of getting a smach z https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/smachteam/smach-z-the-handheld-gaming-pc/pledge/new?clicked_reward=false and was wondering if it would be able to run Dirty bomb.

If it support keyboard+mouse and external screen, people might look that up
sheeet… it can play metro redux…
even if it does, DB on “gamepad” no, thanks
but if its “PC” probably yes, maybe try to contact them and ask if its able to run any steam game
So it’s a handheld? Are there any successful ones besides PSP and Ninteno handhelds?
OUYA someone? NVIDIA Shield? Rather buy a better PC component or a new PC.
I happen to have played DB with a Xbox One controller a few weeks back…it plays like sh*t. This thing looks like a Steam controller with screen, wich probably will feel even worse than a Xbox One controller (I could be wrong)
But that thing runs on Windows and Linux so DB should be able to work (on potato settings, looking at Overwatch 720P medium settings result of 30 fps). And the specs are supprisenly good for a handheld, though I think overheating might be an issue.
TLDR
For $450 I’d buy a good GPU or just save for a good PC.
running windows means nothing, I have an old lappie running XP on 384 meg of RAM, won’t run FA else
Wow did they really remove my comment!? Was it because I mentioned Overwatch in it…
This thing looks like a combination of the WiiU gamepad and a Steam controller (and they might be piggy backing off of the Steam controllers software/config library). It looks to be using an AMD SoC that is similar to what the newer consoles run. The screen is 1080p but I’d wager that most of the games that can be run on the thing will use a more realistic 720p even though the hardware specs are not awful for a SoC.
However, I don’t know how they are going to resolve the heat issue. The newer consoles both have giant heatsinks and a lot of area used simply to allow for solid air flow and increased cooling…which is something this little guy won’t have. Yeah, it has the specs on what they are going to do to reduce heat but saying something isn’t the same thing as doing something. The TDP on the proc is pretty low but that’s still a very small area to dissipate heat properly without having to constantly underclock itself. And devices like that, when ran at high heat, tend to breakdown quickly over time/use. And that’s not even factoring in potential discomfort of holding the thing.
Also, the non-pro version is 64gb. Win10 64bit, after you install all windows updates, drivers and a few smaller apps you’re looking at 25-35GB. So you have almost no space to install games. And the non-pro model only comes with 4gb of system memory which is way too small for win7-win10 64bit. So your only option really is to buy the Pro model which is 8gb system memory and 128gb storage. The 8gb is a bit more acceptable if not ideal but the 128gb is still pretty crap. A lot of games are 30-50gb these days.
It’s a pretty cool design and if it works out, awesome. However, I honestly won’t believe it until I see it and benchmarked it. They are shooting for the stars with this device and all for just $300 US for the non-pro and $430 for the Pro. So, in theory, DB should run on it. But I’d wager it won’t run that well given the hardware and potential heat issues. And I would definitely buy a Steam controller and play DB on it first before buying into the Kickstarter for it.
This definitely looks like a, “wait for a second revision” to me.
We’ve never removed comments when referencing other games as long as the comment fits within the forum rules. Like comparing a list of games to DB in an effort to show features of one vs. another to better explain a point. We have removed spam comments or threads where it was basically, “I quit this game for X” with no other context but even those are super rare. Are you sure your comment actually posted? The forums can do some weird stuff at times.
@Amerika Well I assume that @Nail responded to my comment…since it was about running Windows.
But anyways I don’t care, just thought it was weird.

(This was the comment, google history, I don’t think there is anything inappropriate)
Thank you everyone for your reply, it was more a question “would it run DB?” I am thinking of getting one and didn’t really think it could run DB. I am most likely going to play games like skyrim on one anyways. Thanks again for everyone’s reply, i really appreciate it.
