Slow main menu with GSYNC

(charmingMist) #1

Hi, since the last update the main menu is incredibly slow and unresponsive for me on my 144hz GSYNC monitor (like running at one frame per second) even though steam’s own framerate counter indicate it is running at 144fps.
Disabling GSYNC for the game in Nvidia’s control panel solves the problem, but then of course I have to deal with tearing or stuttering during gameplay.

I am no expert but I would have to guess this is due to the front-end now being v-sync locked, and it messes with the variable refresh rate of the monitor.

Is there any way I can deactivate vsync on the front-end to solve the problem ?

Hello there! I also have a high end computer using GSYNC 144hz monitor. And I can also confirm that the main menu “lag” is an issue. Would apreciate if there would be an option somewhere to make the gaming experience inside that main menu abit better for the Gsync folks.

Menu seems fine for me with gsync

Same here for me. I didn’t know if it was gsync related or not. But it was fine during the stress test I played in and now it replayed the opening movie and whenever I’m in the menus I’m getting like 5 FPS.

Any solution for this?

I haven’t found a solution yet, and I’m just used to it now. I guess it’s a good thing we don’t have to spend a lot of time in the menus.

I locked my fps to 120 (from 144hz) and its fixed

Setting windows to 120hz did not fix it for me

Do it inside the ShooterEngine file in the config:

MaxSmoothFrameRate=120

Okay this works, I had disabled framerate smoothing a while back this is why it didn’t work at first.
