Slipping Out of Early July: A DLC Lament

(Bittermetal) #1

Just saying…

I love SD and I love BRINK, I’ve done all the things the haters accuse the lovers of BRINK for… I have sung its praises I have humped the leg… BRINK is great in bed by the way. I’ve defended the devs, the gameplay, the movement system and the lack of new content.

I will continue to do so because I believe in the game.

But SD has to realize this will be another massive disappointment to the struggling community if they cannot make good on their stated intentions. I say “intentions” because I understand that is what “Early july” was meant to convey… An intention to get it out then.

Still that does little to quell the growing descent and discontent among the community.

Anyway, I support SD and continue to enjoy BRINK. But I am one of many who are still eagerly awaiting the DLC and the PC stats page.

My 2cent die has been cast! I hope it doesn’t come up “craps”

I hear ya brother. I am wishing for the DLC as well. It is killing me not being able to get in Founders Tower… just keep the fingers crossed and playing. I hear ya though. … I am either going crazy, or should just keep playing… and wait it out. scratch another mark in to the wall of the asylum… ////X ////X ////X ////X

Wait! We still got uh, checks calendar 4 days left before “early July” is officially over! (Counting the 15th as the cutoff.)

I talked to a friend of mine with a Xbox 360 and he confirmed that they only release updates on a specific day of the week (Tuesday?) so if the DLC is indeed delayed just so it can be released on all platforms simultaneously then that could be what’s holding up the release.

I personally think it’s a bad idea to wait to release a DLC/patch so it can come out on all platforms at once. I may be biased toward the PC but I’d be happy with letting the console players know what they can expect in the near future.

Hahah! Well said! The family that stick together…etc etc!

You on PC or console? If PC add me… “I’m Hit!”

Love your new sig!

I agree. There is no reason to roll them out at the same time. I mean it was no problem to roll out the Stats page to the console community over a month ago, while the PC was left to languish.

Since SD has had the build up for MS and Sony review since mid/late June, there are only a few logical reasons why it has slipped to not early-July:

  1. It failed either the MS or Sony (or both) reviews and they’re fixing the problem and will release when re-reviewed and passed. Sucks, but you can fail a review for the simplest thing, like displaying “Playstation” instead of “PlayStation” just once in the legal text.

  2. SD testers found a major bug/crash while the DLC was in review and had to send up a fixed version. Sucks, but it can happen. Would you rather wait 2 more weeks or have a DLC that crashed when you unlocked that 25th level on your 5th character?

  3. Some 23 year old marketing puke in Bethesda ran a competitive logistical feasibility profit estimation report that determined with 89% accuracy that delaying the DLC will drive more sales in Sri Lanka, Portugal, and Uruguay. Huh huh, U-r-guay.

  4. SD and Bethesda actually feed off of disappointment and impatience. The DLC will never be released, but Bethesda-paid bloggers will talk about release dates every few weeks to keep us on edge.

  5. SD believes that “early July” means any date from July 1st to July 15th. Hence, when the DLC ships tomorrow, they’ll say “We told you so!”.

Stop playing Call of Duty: Black Ops and come eat my tasty mines! (Wolf is on a console btw.)

It already feels like it’s mid-July now, so for me, this just feels like they were late again with the DLC. That being said, I still have high hopes for it as far as the maps and new content go, and I am sure they will make the game even more fun than it already is.

At this point all us gamers can do is wait and hope SD will release information on when the DLC will be released, or better yet, they just release the DLC soon so it can still slightly be considered early July when it goes live.

The tomahawk and crossbow are the only things keeping me going back to BLOPS. I get some the most hilarious Bank Shots with that tomahawk. I love bouncing that thing off walls to catch someone in the back of the head. Too hilarious!

But I’m about to hop in some BRINK now.

New game mode, new game mode, please. Its not only about new maps and additional stuff. Old maps with new mp mode would be a blast. It don’t have to be TDM, but something different than the same objectives over and over again. Come on SD, you are the creative guys. A second game mode in a mp fps isn’t too much, is it?

The plausibility of your list of 5 makes me want to go for a walk…:frowning:

(SinDonor) #12

Well, I did try to end the list on a high note. No.5 is the best case scenario. DLC releases tomorrow!!!

(Spendlove) #13

Four days left til “mid” July. Keep the faith! SD won’t let us down

Oh and Jimmy, send me a pm so I can add you to my list of decet PC brink people x

(NthLegion) #14

I wouldn’t be nearly as concerned about the DLC release date if all the balance tweaks for consoles weren’t part of the DLC. It’s waiting for improved gameplay that makes me impatient, not waiting for new content.

Yup!

SpendLove is cool folks! I have Jimmy James and Spendlove in my friends list. You guys can also add Stabby McStabberson. He and I have been playing since launch! Great team player who actually does the objectives! Whoa!

(Bittermetal) #16

I think so. I have plenty of games that do TDM and free for all. I don’t want it in BRINK. In fact I want new maps to see the new objectives and themes.

(SinDonor) #17

I 2nd this statement. I am WAY more interested in the tweaks than I am the new levels/outfits.

Although, my Heavy Engy would prolly like that weapon shield for his Gotlung.

(Jimmy James) #18

Hang on, got to run out and do the grocery shopping. I’ll be on soon.

Not even close to being on the same page with those who keep barking about “tweaks and fixes”! (diff book entirely - I think I’m reading the 5th book in Song of Fire and Ice you all are reading Harry Potter)

For WHAT? Are you on console? Maybe something I’m missing. But the game is fine for me.

I just want Stats and DLC.

Here in Consolandia, we don’t have all of those gun stat tweaks you PC guys got weeks ago.

So, when the DLC is released, we’ll also get the Carb-9 nerf, the heavy weapons increase, the Lobster/EZ-Nade buff, etc etc. I care about that stuff more than the other stuff.
