Sliding against irregular wall

(Yatta) #1

Hello, im looking for a way to improve circulation in a corridor with a door frame.
heres how it is, top view :

] [

Since its narrow, players tend to hit the frame in the middle and thats annoying. I tried to had clip this way :

\ /
] [
/ \

But players still get stopped if they stick to the wall to move forward, instead of being “bumped/slided” by the clip to the center of the frame. I there a special common texture to use instead of clip to make the sliding neat, or am i doing it wrong ?

It sounds as if the clip brush is actually not smooth at all, and has some kind of bump in it.

Your clip angles may be too steep (see image on left), try making them shallower (see middle).

You may also want to try using a single brush encompassing each side of the door frame - depending on the compiler and surrounding geometry, this can produce cleaner output than using four brushes in total.

now, there’s a reason to play SD games, who else gives you that support on a 8 year old game ?

I think the devs still have nostalgic feelings about mapping for ET :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you ducks, Sorry for not answering earlier.

In the end size does matters. I was using the 3rd clip style you drew, and made those far wider to make them less steep and it worked.
